A St. Bernard Parish teenager has been booked with murder after authorities say he shot two men after being denied a drink at a bar in the Poydras community because he was underage.
Anthony Hookfin Jr., 18, of 2304 River Queen Drive, Violet, was booked Friday with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths Thursday evening of Michael Whitehead, 51, of Kenilworth and David Ward, 41, of Oklahoma.
Hookfin was captured at about 4 a.m. at his girlfriend's house and is being held without bond.
Hookfin allegedly shot Ward and Whitehead outside of Barracuda's Lounge at 7907 E. St. Bernard Highway shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday, said Steve Cannizaro, a spokesman for the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office. Initially investigators suspected that two men were involved in the killings but that was a mistake.
Hookfin entered the bar and attempted to buy a drink but was challenged by Ward, who accused Hookfin of being underage. Cannizaro said Ward, who was working as contractor in St. Bernard Parish, was a regular at the establishment and served as an unofficial bouncer although he wasn't employed by the bar.
When Hookfin could not produce any identification, he was told to leave, and he did. A short while later, he returned to the bar and was again challenged by Ward, Cannizaro said. Hookfin told Ward that he had his identification outside, and Ward and Whitehead followed him out of the bar. Once outside, authorities said, Hookfin opened fire. Ward and Whitehead staggered back into the bar, Cannizaro said. Ward died at the scene and Whitehead died later at a New Orleans hospital.

The left is a selfish bunch and they are teaching the young to be just like them.
I bet he’ll be treated as an adult now.
If it is okay to kill defenseless babies for convenience sake?
FWIW, John Wesley Hardin shot a man for snoring.
"When I was 16, I wasn't afraid to die. Now, at the same age, my son isn't afraid to kill."
That scared me, because this affects not just the black community. It seems most kids, especially those who play the first shooter video games, are as callous as can be. The programming by electronic media appears almost complete, and the soul of our last generation has been removed...
OMG, I used to know a couple of Hookfins from New Orleans. An uncle and his nephew. Nicest people you’d ever want to meet. I wonder...
I think maybe violent videos coupled with the breakdown of the American family is a recipe for trouble. My nephew was allowed to play any game of his choice, and some were pretty violent! Yet he was the product of a strong, loving home..and is now in the process of becoming a Firefighter. :)
Sad situation over there in New Orleans.
The perp doesn't look like one of ten "nicest people you'd ever want to meet"
I wonder how many children he has.
All he wanted was a shot. Give the relatives of his vics AK-47s and give him all the shots they think he sould have. Case closed and jsutices will cost less than $100 given the price of ammo for the AK!
Can you or anyone here clue me in to how many household and for how many years have these video games in them as part of a regular activity?
We do interactive family things not because we are non playstation snobs just.
Just different family interests that never included vid games.
Well I take that back somewhat.
We do enjoy the 1 cent interactive arm bandits that are now at the local Indian Casino so I guess we do play video games on occasion.
Nice family he has. A lot of scum from Orleans have been coming to St. Bernard and screwing it up. They are trying to do it to my community too.
BTW I could not get your link to work but I did find this at the site it took me to.

I don't remember off hand how to high light a link.
Thanks. The Hookfins I knew were black, too. Can’t say I see any family resemblance though, not that that means much.
