I'm flying solo for Championship Week. Rose is a Big 10 guy...so are we really surprised he's not picking conference championship games?
Update from Rose: Ummm, no. I'm here. My picks are added below:
No. 17 Boston College vs. No. 25 Virginia Tech (even odds), 1 p.m. I am inclined to go with Virginia Tech here. Boston College hasn't forgotten last year -- you know, when the Eagles beat Virginia Tech during the regular season only to miss the BCS at the hands of the Hokies in the ACC title game. Expect a hard-nosed game, low scoring, tough defense and a ton of intensity. Why do I pick Virginia Tech and its helter-skelter offense? Well, Boston College is without Chris Crane -- the guy who made some crucial throws in Chestnut Hill to knock off Tech in October. Dominique Davis has stepped in like a veteran, but he's about to go up against an elite defense, and I'm not sure he can avoid the turnover. But the ultimate key to this game is Virginia Tech's offensive line. Honestly, little else matters. If Tech's OL can hold its own against BC's magnificent defensive line, the Hokies will win. If not, game over. Tech has become good at making it ugly, but making it happen. I'll give it to Tech, 16-13.
Rose: Neither team has much offense. Tyrod Taylor can makes some plays for the Virginia Tech offense. Same with Dominique Davis for Boston College, who has stepped in for the injured Chris Crane and has played like a veteran. Yes, this game comes down to the defenses. Both are very good. But I think Boston College's front seven is a bit better. I like the Eagles in a low-scoring, 13-10.

Mizzou over OU = Justice. Go Horns!
Congrats going out to the University of Buffalo, who knocked off a previously undefeated Ball State team that was a two TD favorite in the MAC Championship game earlier tonight.
Good showing by my undergraduate alma mater.
Alabama/Florida....a tough one to call. I think Florida’s speed on offense will be the deciding factor here but not by much. Should be a great game.
I think you meant to post this elsewhere. This is the “News & Activism forum.”
You’re right. My bad.
If Bama can put together four solid quarters (something they’ve only done a couple or three times all season), they win by 12. If they have a sloppy quarter or two like they’ve done so many times this season, it could get ugly. I think Bama rises to the occasion and puts an entire game together. Bama 35, Florida 23
I’m no fan of OU, specifically because the sports media have a never-ending love affair with them. Unfortunately for Missouri, my likes and dislikes are not likely to be a factor. Oklahoma 42, Mizzou 17
Hotty Toddy and Go Rebels!
MM
Not so tough to call. I’ve seen them both play in person. Florida by three touchdowns. Alabama has nothing. Their three signature wins—Clemson, Georgia, LSU—turned out to be against teams that had down years. And my opinion is totally unbiased. I hate both of them.
Agreed. I hope OU gets beats. Go Gators in the SEC!
1. Alabama loses, plays in Sugar vs. Utah.
2. Florida, OK win, play each other in BCS.
3. USC plays PSU in Rose. Hayes write, "The dream matchup for the national championship is Florida vs. USC, but the Trojans don't have enough BCS juice."
4. Texas in Fiesta vs. Ohio St.
5. Texas Tech in the Cotton vs. Ole Miss
HOOKEM!
I like the way you think, Mississippi Man. :)
I agree, we have got to play all 60 minutes of the game. We have steadily improved over the season and I feel quite confident that a win is very possible! There is so much hype over the Gators and Tebow that overconfidence may cause them a problem.
I think it is going to be a good game! On another forum I made a crazy prediction... 31-7 Bama! Probably going to be a bit closer than that tho, we'll know by this evening!
STOMP the chomp!! High Tide in the Georgia Dome!
I’ll take those a step further:
Alabama over Utah by 14
Florida over Oklahoma by 7
USC over Penn St. by 17
Texas over Ohio St. by 21
Texas Tech over Ole Miss by 17
I’d agree with all of your winners. I think USC will win by more than 17, but I haven’t seen enough of Penn State this year to give a knowledgeable reason for that gut feeling. And I’m hoping Minnesota’s own James Laurinitis can rouse the Buckeye defense to at least keep the OSU loss under 21 points.
The ‘N’ on the Nebraska helmit stands for nowledge.
I hope Oklahoma loses, and the BCS folks send USC to the title game instead of Texas - just so we can have another 3 days of non-stop screeching, wailing, and gnashing of teeth.
Hmm... maybe I oughta invest in a slew of “41-38” (2006 Rose Bowl score) cards to sell.
Just kidding - I hope Oklahoma can play in the cold tonight - should be in the mid-20s.
It is going to be a good day! Roll TIDE ROLL!
As a Gator fan this is what concerns me. However Im still a homer and gota go with the Gators 24-21.
GO GATORS!!!!!!!!!!!
