I always tell my boys that they can dress any way they want, have tattoos, earrings, whatever. It’s fine with me.

They won’t live in my house, but it’s fine with me.

I remember when my boys went off to college. They were told if they came home with a ring in their ear, they'd be doing their laundry elsewhere.

My one son lived in NY in later years. Before one of his visits, he shaved his goatee...knowing mom would not be impressed. I thought it was nice that he even considered it.

What he doesn't remember is that one of my boyfriends (after divorce) had a very nice goatee.
