Feds taped Blagojevich
Chicago Tribune ^ | December 5, 2008 | Jeff Coen

Posted on 12/05/2008 5:31:18 AM PST by dinoparty

Federal investigators recently made covert tape recordings of Gov. Rod Blagojevich in the most dramatic step yet in their corruption investigation of him and his administration, the Tribune has learned.

As part of this undercover effort, one of the governor's closest confidants and former aides cooperated with investigators, and that assistance helped lead to recordings of the governor and others, sources said.

The cooperation of John Wyma, 42, one of the state's most influential lobbyists, is the most stunning evidence yet that Blagojevich's once-tight inner circle appears to be collapsing under the pressure of myriad pay-to-play inquiries.

Wyma, Blagojevich's chief of staff when he was in Congress, has long been one of the few advisers trusted by Blagojevich and kept in the loop on matters of policy and politics. As the federal probe intensified, Wyma met privately with the governor and his former chief of staff at the governor's campaign headquarters on the North Side for 90 minutes on Oct. 22.

Let's also not forget former Illinois governor, Dan Walker, Dem, sentenced to 7 years in the federal can for fraud. He served about 18 months, if I remember correctly.

Then he petitioned for a presidential pardon.....but didn't get one.

People in blue states will never learn when it’s time to throw out the bad regardless of the letter next to their name.

Am I to assume this guy is a Democrat, since there is no mention of party affiliation in the first four paragraphs?

No mention of party in title, first sentence, or first paragraph. I assume he’s a democrat then...

“Zero will fire Fitzgerald the US Attorney and have these investigations swept under the carpet.”

Obama’s buddy & next door neighbor is one of Fitzgerald’s prime targets. Why do I think you might have a point?

“IL was slowly taken over by Chicago. “Down State” has no power left at all. Chicago thugs run the place.”

Illinois has become the “New York State of the Great Lakes”. That is to say, the entire politics [and condition] of the state is controlled by one disproportionally large urban area.

That said, there can be no future for conservatives or conservatism in Illinois. The only options are to put up with things there - knowing that they will never change - or to move out. That’s it.

Corruption in Illinois politics? Nah...I wouldn't believe it for a minute.
Did not Barack Obama lead the fight against corruption in the state government while he was in the Illinois senate?

I live in Central Illinois. Everywhere you go and everyone you talk to agrees this guy is a joke and an idiot. He won’t live in Springfield but rather takes a private plane back and forth from Chicago. He’s been sighted often during the work day running through the streets of his Chicago neighborhood training for marathons. The State is in the worst financial shape its ever been in history. He pledged he won’t raise taxes so to fund his pet projects he issues executive orders. He’s engaged in a public war with the Democratic Speaker, and most of the Democratic controlled legislature can’t stand him. The I word (Impeachment) has come up, but the Lt. Governor is an even bigger idiot, so he’s the lesser of two evils. Blago was reelected in 2006 by a wide margin thanks to a disastrous Republican party in Illinois and the lemmings in Chicago who vote for Democrats regardless of their qualifications.

Unbelievable!!

I read what was posted and wondered the same thing, but the lack of party affiliation pretty much made me certain he is a Democrat.

My first thought is that this man should not be allowed to appoint a replacement to Obama’s seat. My second thought is that it should be allowed and said replacement could be made politically weak.

"Of all the stories I have read about this has anyone seen him referred to as the Democrat Governor of __________?"

Crooks stick together, and Democrats and the media are birds of a feather.

Based on the last election it appears Chicago thugs have taken over the country.
