Wow. I was wondering how long it would take for the “yelling” to begin.
Disclosure: I am a Latter Day Saint.
Thanks to all of Free Republic, and especially those that have given thanks and been kind to us.
Lets examine the idea of “Mormon are not Christians”
If the intended communication is that “Mormons are not Protestants or Catholics”, then absolutely correct. Although, I have lived in Georgia for a while, and you would be surprised how similar the cultures actually are.
BUT, the intended meaning is often, “Latter Day Saint’s belief in Jesus Christ is so far from what the bible teaches, that it does not qualify as belief in Jesus Christ” I would hate to be the judge of this, and the whole idea would cause anyone serious about one’s salvation to fear’ at least a little bit.
I can point out similarities of belief, the biggest being that Latter Day Saints believe the man named Jesus, born of Mary, was/is the Son of God. We reject anything that would cast doubt on Jesus Christ’s divinity.
In the minds of Mormons, that makes us Christians, BUT I can understand why some people do not agree with that line of thinking. We are, actually, more our doctrine is rather different that Catholics or Protestants. But still, much is similar.
I really question anyone who can say the line is drawn here for what is real belief in Jesus Christ on what is not.

We conservatives must treat our doctrinal differences with respect, and just agree to disagree, if we are going to have an effective coalition. It is in the interest of the Left to keep us at each others throats. In fact, I wonder if some of the Mormon and Catholic bashers arent actually trolls for the Left.
Such coalitions work. I’ve participated in them. It worked in California for Prop. 8.

Lets examine the idea of Mormon are not Christians ... [if]
the intended meaning ... Latter Day Saints belief in Jesus Christ is so far from what the bible teaches, that it does not qualify as belief in Jesus Christ I would hate to be the judge of this, and the whole idea would cause anyone serious about ones salvation to fear at least a little bit.You should read the annotations provided in my original response Here.

As a practicing Mormon, assuming you are Temple Worthy, you should know Joseph Smith taught ...
- That Jesus and Satan are brothers
- That God had incestuous sexual relations with His daughter, Mary, impregnating her with Jesus
- That Christian pastors are "dimwitted hirelings of Satan"
- Of sacred scriptures based on pagan works such as prayers to Egyptian gods for dead spirits which were supposedly translated using occult devices such as peep stones
- That God is a polygamous celestial stud married to our Heavenly Mother, whose name is so sacred we are not to say it out loud
- Of Kolob and of other worlds named Planet Oblish and Planet Enish-go-on-dosh ruled by a governing power through the medium of Kli-flos-is-es, or Hah-ko-kau-beam
- Of prominent display of Satanic symbols such as pentagrams, baphomets, earth stones, and saturn stones on his churches' religious buildings and literature
- Of portraying Satan as the god of this world and having him teach church doctrine in the Mormon temple ceremony
- Of the wearing a fig leaf apron in temple ceremonies to symbolize Satans power and priesthoods
- Of offering prayers to the devil in the temple ceremony Oh God, hear the words of my mouth and of praising him in the sacred rites by chanting Hebrew words whose translation is Marvelous Lucifer
- That husbands can resurrect their wives from the grave
- Of having special grips and clasps in order to tell ghosts from angels and the devil
- Of practicing baptism for the dead
- Of wearing magic underwear to protect from physical harm with symbols so sacred that they must be cut out and buried and the garment burned when it wears out
- That the Ten Lost Tribes and the apostle John will be discovered living in cement houses in a tropical land adjacent to the North Pole separated by a high mountain range
- That men about six feet tall, dressed like Quakers, will be discovered dwelling on the moon where they live for about 1,000 years
- That science will prove the earth has knobs on each end
- That he was commanded by God to retranslate the Bible because the existing translations contained errors eventually devising an Inspired Revision completed in 1833 which was rejected by his church who still uses the King James Version
- That his followers are not saved by grace, but instead are burdened by a complex series of rules and regulations which determine their progression as gods of their own planets and the ultimate size and quality of their harem of goddess wives
- That he was greater than Jesus
... and therefore, by your own criteria, you must reject Joseph Smith.

We reject anything that would cast doubt on Jesus Christs divinity. What's the MORMON teaching on WHEN Jesus became devine?

You know it's really more accurate to say that LDS believe the pre-incarnant spirit named Jesus was a son of God -- not THE Son of God. Now, if Jesus' birth to Mary made him more than that -- it that elevated Jesus to THE Son of God status, would you care to elaborate, especially based upon Brigham Young and other LDS prophets' and apostles' statements, what exact role Elohim played in the conception of Jesus within Mary?
I really question anyone who can say the line is drawn here for what is real belief in Jesus Christ on what is not. [acipher]
You've just refuted yourself. You question whether any line can be drawn in what is real belief in Jesus Christ. Yet if your "question" was poured into concrete as THE "standard" -- then why is your curvy "line" absolutely so?
