Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.), fresh off his win in Tuesday's runoff, said that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) excited the GOP base and helped persuade voters to go to the polls.
"Obviously, you want to peak on the last day, and we had John McCain and Mike Huckabee and Governor [Mitt] Romney and Rudy Giuliani, but Sarah Palin came in on the last day, did a fly-around and, man, she was dynamite," Chambliss said on Fox News Wednesday. "We packed the houses everywhere we want. And it really did allow us to peak and get our base fired up."
Chambliss, who defeated Democrat Jim Martin 57 percent to 43 percent, said that he thought that popularity of the former GOP vice presidential nominee would endure.
"I mean, I can't overstate the impact she had down here," he said. "All these folks did a great job coming in. They all allow you did us to add momentum to where we were in the campaign. But when she walks in a room, folks just explode.
Chambliss called her "a dynamic lady" and said that she had a "great future" in the party.
Sarah Palin 2012
Yep, the game has changed for the past 4 years.
More suffocating of the republican vote from Ms. Palin!!!!!
YOU GO GIRL
I’m glad he was gracious. Not excited about Chambliss, but he was better than Martin. Hopefully Chambliss will be more conservative. :)
GO SARAH.
I JUST LOVE HER!!!!
Saxby: you are a smart man to acknowledge Palin power. you know from hereon which side your bread is buttered on. Thank God you won, and thank God you enlisted the support of the most popular Republican with the base since Ronald Reagan.
Will Sarah be featured at CPAC 2009???
Sarah and THE ELECTION OF OBAMA fired up the base. Hopefully, the next Congressional Election will get the republicans to the voting booth...now that they see the danger.
Sarah Palin has that effect on lots of people.
Dear RNC, are you taking notes?
You would hope so, but not all Pubbies react appropriately after they have had a near (political) death experience.
Your girl is at it again.
:>)
I can continue to support her.
Great job, Sarah!! You delivered the goods!!
Yea, Saxby has 6 more years before he has to be held accountable again. We’ll see if he is honorable or he reverts back to his RINO-tastic ways.
I sure hope so...but I doubt it....we are suffering here in NJ with the possibility of a Bushy being shoved down out throats for the Gov. race next year......and all you hear from these rinos is SP wont sell in NJ........the GOP in Nj deserves to lose with that attitude.
So much for “dragging the ticket down”.
You GO Eighties Girl!
Hopefully, this is a jolt to the RNC.
What does it take to win an election?
Political advertising:$500,000
Travel & Misc. Expenses: $300,000.
Staff & Supplies: $200,000.
Sarah Palin: PRICELESS
