Palin's decision to blanket the state with appearances -- and the rock-star reception she is receiving -- speaks to two basic facts about the former vice presidential nominee: she is beloved by the base of the party and she has absolutely no intention of stepping off the national stage any time soon.
While Palin has been widely derided by many political commentators and many Democrats, it's hard to dispute that there is no more appealing face for the party faithful at the moment than her's.
Though few in the GOP base would admit it publicly, there is a significant weariness with President George W. Bush and, to a lesser extent, Sen. John McCain. Palin represents something totally different -- in the way she looks, the way she talks and in her résumé.
"She's a very, very fresh face for every Republican, and some independents, said Fred Davis, the lead media consultant for McCain's presidential race. "She is a breath of fresh air."
And, remember, that runoff elections are fundamentally a fight between the two parties' bases; turnout is a HUGE problem for both sides in runoffs so any politician who can provide a jolt of energy to the base -- a la Palin -- is a hugely valuable commodity for a politician like Chambliss
The interest in Palin from those who count themselves loyal Republican footsoldiers is compounded by the Alaska governor's clear desire to remain a player (and potential candidate) in the party for years to come.
She's been bitten hard by the political bug and is willing to endure long plane rides to stay in the national game," said Phil Musser, a GOP media consultant.

Nevermind the obvious sexism, since when was it proper to reference pornography in newspaper headlines? Where’s the decorum?
Few would admit they are tired of Bush in the base? yeah right...obviously th person doesn’t spend enough time in conservative circles where we openly express our frustrations.
Go Sarah!
Good news on BOTH counts!!
Doonesbury still around? That's too bad.
Yep. Because she was not intimidated by them. I think they were pretty sure she would beat feet back to Alaska, and never darken their door again, lol.
Go Sarah!
His staff has been trying to destroy her. He's a jerk in case you haven't figured that out. He thinks it's all about him, he knows best.
What she has, cannot be bought, or taught. The Governor is a natural.
It’s call “coinage”...you do the favors, you collect the coins. In 2011-2012 (or whenever), the coins get cashed.

I assume CCN still has Headline News (contentious news updated every 30 minutes,,,, they did 5 - 10 years ago.
Local TV stations post to their web sites as well and usually don't have the bias of CNN.
The quickest updates with more information on the election?

I completely agree w/ you - and I think that the more she is out there the more people will realize their fears about the “fundamentalis” was unfounded. If this presidency becomes another Carter then people will be clamoring for a real fiscal conservative and someone who believes in small govt! :)
I heard Palin speak about the govt. spending LESS $$ at the Governor’s meeting with Obama. I wonder how many other governors did that.
Admit it, hell, we scream it from the rooftops. They're both liberals in their own differing ways. Who gives a rat's patoot about either of 'em? Liberals visceral reaction to Bush has always puzzled me. He's by far the most liberal Republican president in recent history, yet they act like he's some kind of uber-conservative Antichrist (or maybe Anti-Antichrist, since they don't believe in all that religious stuff)
Or any man?
Awesome quote.
Awesome tagline.
It's hardly the same.
I wonder if beautiful Gov. Palin shares something with another famous, tough point guard, named Jerry West.
Is that a basketball broken nose, I wonder?
“That title being worded like that is insulting as hell, is the MSM still trying to degrade her even now?”
Exactly. Reminds me of “Debbie does Dallas.” The media is so full of leftist, invertebrate scum nothing surprises me.
Any specific reasons as to why not?
