From the pool report inside Independence Hall -- which we posted earlier in our liveblog -- there's this great tidbit on Joe Biden straying away from his prepared remarks in Philly today to talk to former VP foe Sarah Palin. We haven't seen Biden in this rare form since the infamous Western Pa SNL skit:
Biden's prepared remarks were:
"And Governor Palin, your being here today sends a powerful message that when campaigns end, we are all partners in progress. Thank you."
But here's what he said:
"And Governor Palin, I want to thank you particularly."
"I might point out, as I told you, we walked in. Since the race is over, no one pays attention to me at all. So I'm -- maybe you will walk outside with me or something later and say hello to me," prompting laughs from all, but an especially loud one from Kaine.
"It's great to see you, Governor."

Soooomebody has a crush!
You could tell during the debates when he smiled or laughed. I don’t think it was meant in negative way—I think he just was very taken by her.
Who wouldn’t be? She’s smart and beautiful.
I can only imagine what Sarah was thinking when he said that “There you go again Joe, showing everyone what a moron you are”
..uh, can we make a VP trade this late in the season, aren’t other sports allowed to do this?
that's how I took his remarks....sometimes what Biden says is oh so true...like zero being a nice clean black guy and that Indians run( own!) the gas stations ( and the cabs and the motels)
Yeah he kept on smiling on her, and it creeped me out. Reminded me of one of those old perverts you tell your kids to stay away from. Why was that idiot Kaine laughing so hard, I swear, these libs make me so sick
you can always trade, as long as the party involved doesn’t get claimed on the waiver wire by the competition. JB’s safe on that account...
Always good entertainment value.
He waited decades to reach the kind of political position that he must have thought would give him credibility as a serious man to be reckoned with, only to find out that nobody cares much about what the Vice President thinks - especially the narcissistic President-Elect, Barack Obama - and that a formerly obscure, female governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, draws far more attention than Joe Biden ever did or ever will.
I love it.
Actually, I think Palin was thinking ‘Why is every male in politics a horndog believing I’ll sleep with them?’
He looked really pathetic sucking up to her like that.
I look forward to his gaffes providing comic relief, though.
God willing he stays that way.
I don’t get it. He made a comment about how people are ignoring him, while, ironically, they continue to pay a great deal of attention to Gov. Palin.
So tell me, what do you think I missed here?

You know, I thought I picked that up at the debate. When she walked out on the stage, looking gorgeous as usual, and asked him “Can I call you Joe?”, he looked like he was going to melt. (I’ll bet she had a nice smelling cologne on as well that night).
Not to mention Palin has a lot more accomplishments of significance.
