Protect them from what? Protect them from a gift of God? Protect them from an STD that you have? How do either of these things make you a "good Catholic"?
A condom targeting Catholics is about as logical as a shampoo targeting bald headed folks.
“National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health”
What does reproductive health have to do with to guys engaging in an act of sodomy?
That is an "odd" statistic to cite on World AIDS day. I thought the STATED purpose of World AIDS Day was to cut down on the transmission of AIDS. Not to cut down on global population or "unwanted" pregnancies.
I’m not a Catholic, but I would think that a faithful Catholic would be outraged by this ad. Some lapsed Catholic purporting to say what “good Catholics” do with respect to condoms, in direct contravention of church teaching. Another one implying that homosexual acts are “sacred,” again in direct contravention of church teaching. If these “Catholics” don’t accept what the Catholic Church teaches, why don’t they go somewhere else, or start a religion of their own? I’ll tell you why, because they think they can do more damage to the Catholic Church by calling themselves “Catholic.”
“National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health”
funded by ..... George Soros, who couldn’t guess that. The guy just hates Christians.
I find these ads very offensive and ridiculous.
I notice that the condom crowd is not marketing sodomy to Moolims. Wonder why.
Oh dear, here were go again. People twisting and diluting their faith to suit their own sinful purpose.
New York, December 1 Two new radio advertisements for alcholic beverages began to target Muslims in the U.S. Arab community here today, World Wine and Beer Day, with the message that good Muslims drink responsibly to protect the people they love.
The 60-second Arabic-language ads, which will air nationwide in 2009, take on myths about alcohol use in Muslim and Arab communities, said a statement from the sponsors, the Washington-based nonprofit organization Muslims for Beverage Choices and the National Arab Institute for Fermented Drink.
Muslims enjoy alcohol responsibly because we know it is the friendly, convivial and healthy thing to do, said Akbar al-Hajj, president of Muslims for Beverage Choices. Islam has not always been honest about alcohol, he said, adding that the spots will break the silence in the Arab community and encourage safer drinking.
Muslims have been receiving a growing number of DUIs nationwide in recent years, and Arab teens are twice as likely to become intoxicated while drinking as their non-Arabic peers, said Fatima Sayyed, executive director of the National Arab Institute for Fermented Drink. It is time we protect ourselves and our fellow Americans.
One of the ads features a grandmother talking about her grandson, who is a drinker, and the other involves a couple discussing the importance of moderation, responsibility and alcohol use in their daily lives. “We are Muslims and people of Ummah, and we know alcohol can be dangerous and that we need to take care of each other. And this means drinking only in moderation every time we drink,” the second ad says.
