I found this hilarious and creepy at the same time. Kind of old, but in my day, we got sent home and suspended for a week. Seems Gestapo to me to arrest him for this.

I don't know.

My brother in law used to pass gas that I would consider ‘Attempted Murder’.

They have to arrest a kid for farting and playing a prank? What a bunch of effing lightweights in publik skool.

A fine lesson they are teaching about the power and intolerance of the state ...

Breaking wind and turning off a computer gets you busted?

These people are idiots.

You have got to be in the classroom with ‘em before you can believe how nasty some of them can be.

I did not know that passing gas would turn off a computer.

Public Schools are very much like State Prisons these days, to me it is the only solution the State has, total control, total power, no deviations allowed or you will go to jail.

A student at Spectrum Junior-Senior High School was arrested earlier this month after he passed gas and turned off his classmate’s computers

That's one powerful raspberry.

I thought I read somewhere else he tipped over some tables or something and the teachers could not control him, that’s why the police got involved. The farting part is why the press took interest.

Not too long ago my kid got two day detention for saying “Thats gay”. I went to school talked to the principle, nothing was going to change. So as I left I told him I thought his policies were “Gay.” I can still see the look on his face!

So if you cut the cheese in front of your computer, it will immediately shut down? WOW! Who knew!

He was charged with disruption of school function and released to his mother.

Sounds like some made-up "crime" to me.

Either you didn't read the article, or you didn't comprehend it. The kid was being a serious and continuing disruption.

The money quote:

According to the report, the incident occurred Nov. 4, when the 13-year-old boy “continually disrupted his classroom environment” by purposely breaking wind. He then shut off some computers other students were using.

A school resource officer placed the boy under arrest after he confessed about his behavior, according to the report. He was charged with disruption of school function and released to his mother.

Sounds like the right result in this case.

There has to be more to this story. This kid may have a long list of problems in the school and maybe he was warned “One more time and we call the police.” who knows......

I have seen some pretty rough kids that do not belong out in public much less in a school.....

When I was in HS, a fellow geek and I setup all of the Apples in the cluster (no networks back then) to simultaneously make farting noises in the middle of class.

Genius. Now, we'd get tasered for it. :-)

WTF?!

"He confessed."

Must have been those "silent" types.
Deadly.

"Charged with disruption of school function."
Gee, under a "three strikes" law, I'd have received a life sentence.
