"My grandma was arrested at Bass Pro Shop."

"She had the walkin' farts while she was in there, and they accused her of shoplifting a duck call and some stink bait."

I found this hilarious and creepy at the same time. Kind of old, but in my day, we got sent home and suspended for a week. Seems Gestapo to me to arrest him for this.

Either you didn't read the article, or you didn't comprehend it. The kid was being a serious and continuing disruption.

The money quote:

According to the report, the incident occurred Nov. 4, when the 13-year-old boy “continually disrupted his classroom environment” by purposely breaking wind. He then shut off some computers other students were using.

A school resource officer placed the boy under arrest after he confessed about his behavior, according to the report. He was charged with disruption of school function and released to his mother.

Sounds like the right result in this case.

..so if you cut the cheese in front of your computer.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
NOT TRUE.
Although I haven’t made a complete diagnostic study of the consequences, I break wind at the computer on a regular basis and it has NOT shut down yet...even though on some occasions the CAT will hightail it out of here AFTER I have ‘ripped’ a few off.

I read the same thing on an earlier thread. I had students that willfully and intentionally destroyed classroom equipment. I referred the matter to the school SRO who filed a criminal complaint (the equipment was worth $6,000).

I also filed charges against a student for assault when I witnessed an attack by a known gangmember on some kid just eating his lunch. Suspension and detention are B.S. when the little rectal vent already had served hard time before coming back to school.

We caught students on videotape tagging the campus ($3,000 plus in Arizona taxpayer money to cleanup). You're damn straight charges were filed there too.

Those who are posting that schools shouldn't be charging kids with crimes probably have no idea how out-of-control their kids are.

OK then work on expulsion. Arrest? Come on! Our law enforcement has better things to do than to be working on unruly students. Anyone doing things much harsher than this in my day got EXPELLED, not ARRESTED.

Is that what turned the computer off?

Yes, I did. I don’t want local jails housing high-school fart blowers, even for a few hours. The concept of “arrest” is the problem here. Next, your kid will wind up in juvie for farting. The problem is to be dumped on his parents, not the criminal justice system.

He needs discipline? OK. Put him in one of those kid boot camp things, at the parent’s expense. Giving him a juvenile criminal record? naah. He didn’t assault anyone, he was disruptive in class.

I did not know that passing gas would turn off a computer.

I don't know why but I envision Al Gore connected with this.

He didn't go to jail. He was detained by the school resource officer and turned over to his mother.

Our law enforcement has better things to do than to be working on unruly students.

You need to study up on the topic. This particular LEO works in the building. It is not an uncommon arrangement these days, especially in schools whose students come from the less civilized parts of town.

I cannot say whether he's paid by the school district or the police dept.; however, this sort of thing is precisely what he is paid to do.

Clearly you did not read for comprehension. The kid was released to his mother, not sent to jail.

No mention of a father, btw....

He was dumped on his parents.

Let's see. The kid was removed outside because he was continually disruptive and the resource officer had to pepper spray him because he was threatening the officer. A little more than a 'fart blower'.

There has to be more to this story. This kid may have a long list of problems in the school and maybe he was warned “One more time and we call the police.” who knows......

I have seen some pretty rough kids that do not belong out in public much less in a school.....
