Orphaned Jewish baby Moshe’s cries fills up synagogue

http://www.hindu.com/thehindu/holnus/001200812012002.htm

Mumbai (PTI): A Jewish congregation dissolved in tears in a synagogue on Monday at the grief of a two-year-old orphan who cried out for his father — a Rabbi — and mother slain by terrorists at Nariman House amid emotional scenes during a memorial service.

Two-year-old Moshe dressed in a bright green T-shirt and blue shorts was carried into a synagogue here for a prayer meeting in memory of the six Jews killed in the terror attack that included his parents Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and Rivika.

Holding a ball in hand, Moshe who was ironically orphaned on the day of his birthday (November 28) kept looking around, probably wanting to see his parents even as his 44-year-old nanny Sandra Samuel lifted him up in his arms.

Standing right next to the infant was his grand-parents who rushed from the US as soon as they heard about the terror attack at the Nariman House, also called Chabad house. Israel’s ambassador to India Mark Sofer was also present.

As the prayers commenced, Moshe got restless and cried out. He calmed down after he was allowed to play.

Moshe survived the terror attack after Sandra fled with him in her arms when the militants captured the five-storeyed building which served as an educational centre, synagogue and a hostel for Israeli tourists.

As the synagogue echoed with the prayers, sounds of sobs could be heard from among the 100-odd Jews who had assembled for the prayer meeting.

While the women present wiped their tears , the men could be seen trying their best to hold back their tears.

“We found the child on the second floor. We had initially thought he was sleeping on the fifth,” said Sandra.

Very sad story - poor little Moshe :(

Orphaned mindlessly by creatures that are incapable of any humanity. Islam delenda est.

Like Moshe, we’ll not only survive but also triumph in the coming wars against Mohammed’s spawn.

Cute little guy. Not even animals would do what these Moo’s did.

And Obama wants to actually talk to the animals who did this...

Just seeing a smile, however temporary, on that little face, is an answer to prayers.

I feel for that little boy. His parents were such wonderful young people with so much love and good to give. May the gracious and merciful Lord Almighty remember him and look after him in a special way. May he grow up to be a fine man and do his parents proud. And may the merciful Lord Almighty place the souls of his parents in a special place in Heaven.

How infuriating is it that Obama would even consider sitting down with the monsters who caused the death of this little one’s parents along with so many others!
God bless this precious little boy...Thankful he was spared..

His birthday will never be one of complete joy. It will always be his parents' yahrzeit. Moshe is too young to understand his parents died for the greatest deed a Jew could merit: Kiddush Hashem. To Sanctify The Name. There is no greater statement of one's love for G-d than to die for Him. And sometimes it is necessary to give up one's life for one's faith, because that is the ultimate calling.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus

Moses (Moshe) leaves for Israel...something rather poignant about that.

Thank G-d for that Indian nanny so at least he has one familiar face from his household.

When I heard of this baby boy, found beside the bodies of his parents , my first thought was that a mighty warrior for Isreal had just been created.

My understanding is this:

Moshe does have family although he knows his nanny much better at this point. To make the transition a bit easier the family asked that Sandra (the nanny) would care for him as it would be adding to the horror to take away *all* that he knows in his young life.

Doesn’t Moshe also have an older sister? I seem to recall reports that she was sick, so not in the lobby area where he and his parents were at the time of the attack?

I fear for this little fellow now and hope he doesn’t become so much a symbol that some islamonutjobs don’t try to take him out to complete the mission. If I were the grandparents I wouldn’t let anyone know where he’s living, whether in the US or Israel. Just keep him away from everyone but friends and families. He will have enough to deal with.
