Speaking as a jewelry connoisseur, that is one UGLY ring!

Believe me, I can think of far better ways to spend $30K, jewelry wise.

Unless he used his/their own money no big deal, just a bunch of Marxist hypocrites that fooled the useful idiots, no big deal at all. Had Obama been sincere in his “beliefs” he would of taken that $30,000 and sent it off to the US Treasury.

If a politician plays class warfare game then I fully expect perfection from that politician. It would only be “fair” (Share).

How many starving people could 30K feed?

Well, I'll wager most of the ladies on FR already own a touch of Rhodium. I do.

Many of my sterling silver pieces of jewelry are rhodium plated, so next time you go shopping for sterling jewelry, ask to see pieces that are "anti-tarnish". It's no big deal to find items even at Wal*Mart around $29 plated with rhodium.

How much for the impoverished aunt awaiting deportation and his half brother living in the hut in Kenya? Supposedly, their charitable contributions have been rather light. Mmm. So much for "change" and the class warfare rhetoric. It's good they're not "bitter" losers clinging to guns and God, huh?

It is payback. She kept her big mean mouth shut while knowing about that nifty little package named Vera hidden down in the Carribean.

She hid out on 9-11 instead of showing up at Ground Zero.

She stayed out of the way so he could fool everyone handily.

Where did a community activist from a poor family serving as a part time state legislator and first term US Senator get this kind of money? While Obama’s books generated some money they were not exactly best sellers. US Senators are overpaid, but I doubt many could afford such a bauble unless they had family or business wealth outside their Senate job. The Clintons didn’t have that kind of money until after they left the White House.

*sigh* My favorite ring was the $109 Irish wedding band my husband bought at a pawn shop. Sadly, my daughter liked it too, picked it up when I was asleep (it was hot and I had put it on my nightstand) shortly before a move and lost it. I have been without a pretty ring like that for a decade, because we had other things we had to spend money on. But, it’s nice to know Obama can get his wife a nice gold ring to show his frugality.

Let’s see if the media, who made a big deal about Sarah Palin’s wardrobe during the campaign, even give this honorable mention in any of their reports.

I wonder if Barry payed full price, or if he got a deal?

If it's the latter, isn't that a violation of Senate ethics rules...?

Well, well, well. I know of at least one woman who’s mortgage won’t be paid off. But I guess he’s still got enough to fill her gas tank.

It amazes me how American blacks think this guy is one of them.

However...
...the story isn’t true.

The Obama camp flatly denies that Obama bought his wife Michelle a $33,000 rhodium ring as a thank you gift, according to The Chicago Sun Times. “’No ring was purchased,’ said [Obama spokesperson Ben] LaBolt.” The statement was made in response to a Daily Mail article claiming that he would.

Here is an excerpt from the original Daily Mail story:

Michelle Obama is to receive this £20,000 thank you from her husband for her support during the election.

The Harmony ring is made of rhodium - the world’s most expensive metal —and encrusted with diamonds. It is being hastily made by Italian designer Giovanni Bosco in time for January’s inauguration ceremony.

Only about 25 tons of rhodium are mined each year, mostly in South Africa, and as a result its price is typically around £5,000 an ounce.
