CHICAGO (AFP) – US president-elect Barack Obama Monday vowed his incoming administration was "absolutely committed to eliminating the threat of terrorism."
"We cannot tolerate a world where innocents are being killed by extremists," Obama said in the wake of Mumbai attacks in which more than 170 people were killed, including six Americans.
"We have to bring the full force of our power, not only military but diplomatic and political, to deal with the threats," he told a Chicago press conference as he unveiled his national security team.

I was actually impressed that he used several keywords and catchphrases I’ve not heard him use before. American Leadership in the world was praised, rather than apologized for.
Extremists and terrorists were blamed, and America’s role in the world was mentioned as a *good* thing.
He still claims to want to do things differently than Bush, sure, but he’s starting to talk like a president.
I think he’s growing up. Funny how being given a few serious briefings and being suddenly responsible for it all gives a guy a sudden injection of perspective.
He needs to start with the terror imposed on the Mormon Church and it’s followers by the gay fanatics bent on reversing Propositition 8!
