BOSTON - Gay and bisexual men in Massachusetts continue to be the hardest hit by the AIDS epidemic with a significant percentage of new cases appearing among minority men.
That’s according to a new report by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health that found while the state has had success battling the disease among injection drug users and heterosexual men and women, it has had less success among gay and bisexual men.
More than half of HIV infections between 2004 and 2006 were among gay and bisexual men even though they make up less than 10 percent of the population.

They are nowhere near 10% of the population. Blacks only make up 13-14% of the population. Last I heard homosexuals were in the 1-3% range. I think even 1-3% is too high of an estimate. They inflate their estimates for political purposes.

Problem is that too many think it ok to ignore those parts of the Bible that is inconvenient to their lifestyle.

That seems to be the thrust of this lawsuit in another arena: Civil rights complaint targets Wall Street rating firms. They seem to be arguing that non-minorities didn't take out enough subprime mortgages, unfairly hitting minorities with the subprime crisis. A logical remedy is to make sure that, for every subprime mortgage provided to a minority person, at least one subprime mortgage is taken by a non-minority.
Are you arguing that 1% to 3% is NOT less than 10%? The author was correct, but not very precise. Of course, he could have said homos make up less than 100% of the population and still been correct.

Of course it’s less than 10% the implication is that it is somewhere at least close to 10%. Also the statement that “more than half” is vague and leaves the implication that it’s just north of 50% even though it could be as high as 99% -— which is more than half.

Here is how I believe a fair interpretation of the facts should read.
96.5% of HIV infections between 2004 and 2006 were among gay and bisexual men though they 1-3% percent of the population.

Accurate, yes, but also a covert way of giving the impression of inflated numbers.
Gays as “10% of the population” is also a long-promoted piece of propoganda, starting with the Kinsey Report.
I doubt it is anywhere even close to that.
