Yep, very disingenuous with the statistics. They did the same thing by saying.......

“More than half of HIV infections between 2004 and 2006 were among gay and bisexual men even though they make up less than 10 percent of the population.”

They are nowhere near 10% of the population. Blacks only make up 13-14% of the population. Last I heard homosexuals were in the 1-3% range. I think even 1-3% is too high of an estimate. They inflate their estimates for political purposes.

Are you arguing that 1% to 3% is NOT less than 10%? The author was correct, but not very precise. Of course, he could have said homos make up less than 100% of the population and still been correct.
