What is our response to the massacre?

We're all in pain. We're all stunned. But you are asking questions you know you cannot answer. Why? How will that help anyone? What we need now is strength and courage. What we need now is to regather our forces and to rebuild.

We knew beforehand that we are at war with an enemy. We knew that the world needs to be healed, that it oozes with a venomous darkness, and that darkness will not sit passively as we steal away its dominion. We knew that the more we fight this darkness, the harder it will fight back. We didn't fool ourselves. We decided we will fight and we will win. That is why Gavriel and Rivky went where they went. They went not as tourists, but as fearless soldiers.

Are we in the Final Days ?

Correction to my last post

No, but we may be in OUR final days if we don't so something about the Muslims. I see it as the Muslims final days if right thinking people will simply throw all the left wing a**hats out of office in this country and return it to it's former status!

Jewish tradition (if that is the right word) does not allow for the name of God to be written in full. In fact, IIRC the guys writing the Torah on scrolls had to wash their hands before writing each letter of the term YHWH - for Yahweh (spelling may not be correct).

Anyway - it is a means of honoring God as he is so powerful and mighty we are not even worthy to write his name. (At least that’s my knowledge of it as a Protestant - I imagine it goes much deeper than that).

Please do not take offense. It is meant as an honor. I understand what you are saying; it seems like they are dishonoring-—like they are censoring...but, please check it out....those who write this way, do it out of respect for our Heavenly Father. It is not “PC”...it has been done for thousands of years.

Pakistan is an interesting problem. A democracy - an ally of the US, sort of. THe government has idealistic people in charge, the husband of the slain Bhutto is the PM, yet there are so many radicals they can’t be sorted out. But the government is probably not behind this, not that some IN the government are not up their hips in it. Pak needs to spend some serious effort in rooting out the malefactors in their government, or they may find themselves at war with India whether they like it or not. And India has nukes too.

This is a sad comment. If this Rabbi doesn't have an answer to the question, he should just say so. Gavriel and Rivky were not fearless soldiers. They were emissaries. They were not in Iraq, or Indonesia. They were in a civilized country once again invaded by savages. This is not what this peaceful couple envisioned. Pretending otherwise calls into question everything this Rabbi Freeman has said or has to say.

My response is that they should be made to pay 100 to 1. If that doesn't work, go to 1,000 to 1, then 10,000 to 1. Start with the women and children.

Western society, for the most part, is guilty of cowardice in the face of the enemy.

"Start with the women and children", are the words of a coward!

Personally, I suggest a whole lot of old testement style retribution as opposed to new testament cheek turning.

""Start with the women and children", are the words of a coward!"

If you think so, then you don't understand how islam, or any other form of extremism, works. Only when their fear becomes greater their hatred will the violence end. Your notions of right and wrong or what constitutes an acceptable use of force only apply to civilized people, not to muslims. During World War II we knew perfectly well that we where killing civilians with strategic bombing, but we also knew that they weren't at all innocent. They where manning the war factories and providing everything that the armies needed to conduct war against us. It was a life and death struggle in which there was no consideration for the welfare of the enemy, just as it is now. It is you who are the coward because you let your notions of justice cloud your mind to the threat that our civilization faces.

Besides, my service to this country proves that I'm no coward.

Your military service is no more glorious than mine. I still say that killing women and children who are not attacking you is cowardly. US military soldiers don’t kill prisoners or the unarmed civilians.

‘’This is the protection G-D gives them’’? Might be better to ask “Where was God in Mumbai?’’ For that matter, where was HE on 9/11?

They and all memory of them will vanish from the face of the earth and our lamp will burn forever. May the Almighty G‑d hear the cry of their blood from the earth and put an end to all sorrow. May it be very soon, sooner than we can imagine

And G-d did not do the slightest thing for the Israelites during their struggle for liberation from the abiding evil of Pharaoh unless they themselves did something first, even if it was something as simple as raising a staff aloft and stretching out a hand.

The Talmud teaches, thrice over, "if someone comes to kill you, arise quickly and kill him first." Jews around the world would do well to take this lesson to heart, and soon.

For just as G-d did not rout the Egyptian Army in the midst of the Red Sea until Moses stretched out his hand, G-d will not defeat these evil people on our behalf and put an end to sorrow until we, ourselves, stretch out our own hands and take action in accordance with G-d's will.

It was not the direct intervention of G-d which put an end to the church-targeted killing spree in Colorado, but when Jeanne Assam decided to take action in defense of the lives of her fellow parishioners at the New Life Church, it was the spirit of G-d which steadied her hand as she took aim at the murderer with her sidearm. And not a single innocent person died after Jeanne Assam decided to act.

G-d, through the Torah, demands self-defense. Who are we to argue otherwise?

And atheists forever flatulating their personal “pain” as a defense against the meaning of existence.

Are believers really the source of your pain?

Just wait! Though we would give our lives to save you from eternal pain...your pain may be just beginning.

Please repent!

For oursake and yours!

We honestly love you and hate to see you in pain!

Please contact me via mail.

Your loss is our loss!

Would you do the same to save one of us?

We already have a reasonable idea of what “moderate Nazis” might have been like.

The Italians Fascists, while not people I’d care to hang out with, had a death toll prior to the war (in close on two decades of power) measured in three digits, not seven. They were not a realistic threat to any other modern nation. If you weren’t a third world country, you were good. (To be fair, this may largely have been a consequence of capabilities, not intentions. Certainly the theoretically drastically overmatched Greeks were doing a dandy job of kicking Fascist heinie before the Germans jumped in.)

Fascist “aggressions” in the ‘30s were not notably different from similar British, French and even American aggressions in earlier decades other than in their timing.

The Spanish Nationalists had a great deal in common with the Nazis, but after the war (and the subsequent obligatory bloodbath) they were by comparison quite civilized and certainly no threat to their neighbors.

Quite notably, neither the Italian Fascists nor the Spanish Nationalists were especially anti-semitic, certainly not in comparison to the Nazis.

Numerous other eastern European and Latin American dictators imitated the Nazis as best they could, but were not an existential threat to their neighbors.

You seem to be confused about terminology. A “moderate Nazism” would be definition not include those elements which made compromise with Nazism impossible.

As an example, in many ways democratic socialism as has held power for many years in of Europe (and coming soon to the USA!) is essentially moderate communism. Social Democrats and Commies have the same goals, in theory, but SDs are squeamish and “moderate” in the methods they are willing to use to achieve those goals.

While I’m utterly opposed to those goals, I’ll happily take squeamishness (moderation) in preference to unswerving radical devotion to the ideal.
