This is the live thread for the Space Shuttle Endeavour Landing (despite the missing tools in space). It was a good mission, however, I do have mix feelings about drinking urine..

I believe urine is 99.8% water and .02% unused minerals and from a healthy person their is no bacteria in urine so if it comes to dying of thirst or drinking urine I would drink the urine.I don't know about having it warm though.

It’s several percent urea as well. I don’t think it’s 99.8% water.

Technically, they separate out pure H2O and are drinking pure water. Just recycling it. Same principal as waste treatment plants on Terra Firma can process until at the end of the line you can open a tap and drink pure water. Reverse Pissmosis, if you will...

Isn’t the space shuttle eligible for antique auto plates?

I saw the pair the other night from New York's Central Park. I hadn't known at the time that the Shuttle had recently undocked from the International Space Station and was only expecting to see the ISS. But as soon as I saw TWO satellite-like objects moving together on the same path, I immediately knew the leading, less bright one was the Shuttle. The reason it was in front of the brighter/larger ISS is that it was dropping to lower and lower altitudes and therefore speeding up due to gravitational acceleration. In fact, if it weren't for the 'braking' effect of Earth's atmosphere, the spacecraft would continue to speed up as it spiraled in towards the surface for a landing. Incredible sight. Prior to their appearance I had assembled a small group of park goers in anticipation. Wonderful bonus seeing the Shuttle in addition to the ISS. The group was amazed at what they saw. Most had no idea these objects could be seen from the ground, no less from the middle of Manhattan!
And if that weren't enough, I also pointed out the two spectacularly bright objects hanging in the south west portion of the sky (just after sunset). They were/are Venus and Jupiter. Venus, by far the brighter of the two, is nearly directly below Jupiter at this time. But as the days and weeks past, Venus will move off more and more to the left of Jupiter.

Isnt the space shuttle eligible for antique auto plates? In the 25 years from 1945 to 1970, German scientists took us from the V-2 to the moon, with no Americans lost in flight. In the 25 years from 1983 to 2008, American scientists took us from the Space Shuttle to the Space Shuttle, with 14 killed in flight and the loss of half of the fleet.

It is also has a lot of diffused salts that the body has gotten rid of, also a lot of liquid “toxic” wastes. It does have a large water component, but with a LOT of filtration it could be reused. I would like to see the set up they used for this.
