A police officer in Tijuana, Mexico, investigates the scene where a woman was killed by gunmen in a parking lot last week.

Gangsters have honed in on this city because of its glut of gun shops, its proximity to the border, and its long-established networks for smuggling narcotics into the United States, federal law-enforcement officials said.

Agents contend that one of the Houston weapon-procurement cells was led by John Hernandez, a 25-year-old U.S. citizen, an unemployed machinist living with his parents, purchased 23 guns for $24,819.

The United States Constitution clearly states that "living with your parents" prohibits the purchase of weapons.....right? Seriously, trafficers in firearms will bring federal pressure on the 2nd Amendment once again. This front page news is just the beh=ginning of an assault on the 2nd.

Since there are no retail gun stores in Mexico, the cartels will simply purchase them somewhere....with greater pressure in Houston. Since the Mexican Federal Police can't seem to stop this violence, maybe armed Mexican citizens will give the cartels pause...for thought?

Here we go - the anti-gunners again.

How is it thatr a Houston newspaper is infested with leftwing liberals?

Have they taken over every major newspaper in America?

Sounds like Mexico needs to tighten their border securtiy.... A fence maybe.

Cross smuggling seems the order of the day. Drugs and illegals coming north into the US and weapons and ammo going south into Mexico.

Houston’s Comical has been a domain of the Democrats in Houston and after it bought out the competition (in a merger approved by the Clinton administration) it has only lurched even more to the Left.

The voters may be Republican (now minority Republican in Harris County) but the city movers and shakers are Democrats. The downtown business alliance crooks are in bed with the Houston news daily. Ken Lay’s corruption at Enron was overlooked because just because. His help was needed to secure the slim margin of victory of votes on the billion dollar stadium referendum.

And our current D mayor may either move back to Washington DC to serve in the Obama administration or try to run for Governor against Good Hair and Kay Bailey.

So, a Mexican sympathizer is the illegal straw purchaser who illegally buys guns that are illegally smuggled across the unguarded Mexican border to Mexican criminals.

And somehow it is a US problem.

Clearly we must adopt common-sense gun control like the rest of the world. Look, now we are arming drug cartels in Mexico. They have billions of dollars and could order whole Chinese ships worth of automatic weapons like the African tyrants do, but they prefer to buy a handful of semi-autos in Houston at ridiculous prices, then smuggle them across the border.

If you believe that the US gun shops are the cause of Mexican violence, then please contact me, I have some electronic roach repellers and stock trading secrets you will want to order too.

if anything it’s a blow against the gun control argument. arms production + smuggling ensures that there’s always going to be a sizable amount of weapons out there.

When you cross the border from the US to Canada there are frequent inspections of vehicles and people. When you cross the border into Mexico..almost none. They shouldn’t be surprised the bad guys with guns arrive every day.

How is it that a Houston newspaper is infested with leftwing liberals?

The Houston Chronic-Ill has always been liberal. They used to sort of pretend to be in the middle so they wouldn't lose much of their subscriber base, but now that The One has been elected, they're letting it all hang out.

I think their subscriber base has shrunk considerably, though. I don't know anyone who takes the Chronic-Ill anymore.
