During the 2008 Democratic primary debate in Philadelphia, April 16, 2008, here is how Barack Obama responded to a question pertaining to the right to keep and bear arms (emphasis added):
Q: Is the D.C. law prohibiting ownership of handguns consistent with an individual’s right to bear arms?
A: As a general principle, I believe that the Constitution confers an individual right to bear arms. But just because you have an individual right does not mean that the state or local government can’t constrain the exercise of that right, in the same way that we have a right to private property but local governments can establish zoning ordinances that determine how you can use it.
Q: But do you still favor the registration & licensing of guns?
A: I think we can provide common-sense approaches to the issue of illegal guns that are ending up on the streets. We can make sure that criminals don’t have guns in their hands. We can make certain that those who are mentally deranged are not getting a hold of handguns. We can trace guns that have been used in crimes to unscrupulous gun dealers that may be selling to straw purchasers and dumping them on the streets.
Based on news reports from The New York Times and Politico, it’s quite possible that Obama intends for the federal government to “constrain the exercise of that right.” From the The Times:
Want a top job in the Obama administration? Only pack rats need apply, preferably those not packing controversy. [snip] Applicants are asked whether they or anyone in their family owns a gun.
Politico digs a bit deeper:
Obama’s transition team declined to go into detail on why they included the question, suggesting only that it was done to ensure potential appointees were in line with gun laws. “The intent of the gun question is to determine legal permitting,” said one transition aide. But even some Democrats and transition experts are baffled by the inclusion of the question. Tucked in at the end of the questionnaire and listed under “Miscellaneous,” it reads: “Do you or any members of your immediate family own a gun? If so, provide complete ownership and registration information. Has the registration ever lapsed? Please also describe how and by whom it is used and whether it has been the cause of any personal injuries or property damage.”
There may be a bill introduced which would make it illegal to discriminate in federal hiring based on gun ownership:
“It’s very odd and very concerning to put out a question like that,” said Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), adding that it may also be “unprecedented.” The freshman senator, who is up for reelection in 2010, had his campaign organization send an e-mail to supporters this week, pledging to enact legislation to bar federal hiring discrimination on the basis of gun ownership.
Unfortunately, DeMint’s strongest ally will likely be the organization which stabbed one of their own in the back in order to endorse another gun-grabber:
The NRA, the gun-rights group that spent millions to defeat Obama, only to see him easily carry sportsmen-heavy states such as Michigan and Pennsylvania, is signaling that it intends to keep up the fight. “Barack Obama and his administration are showing their true colors and true philosophy with regard to the Second Amendment,” said Chris Cox, the NRA’s top political official. “It shows what we’ve been saying all along — this guy doesn’t view the Second Amendment as a fundamental constitutional right.” Cox said the group had put the word out to their members on the question.
First of all, Obama must be pretty out-of-touch with gun laws around the country — based on the wording of the gun questions, at least. In much of the country, we don’t even have to register firearms. In places where registration is required, gun owners usually aren’t forced to register family heirlooms.
How and when used? Umm, for shooting… Squeezing the trigger… As often as possible?
Are blown up cans and bottles considered property damage?
Also, if Obama doesn’t have an anti-Second Amendment agenda, why isn’t he asking the following question on the questionnaire:
Do you or any members of your immediate family own a motor vehicle? If so, provide complete ownership, insurance and registration information. Has the registration or insurance ever lapsed? Please also describe how and by whom it is used and whether it has been the cause of any personal injuries or property damage.
Cars are certainly a lot more dangerous than firearms.
Of course Obama believes in the Second Amendment and the Right to Bear Arms, just look at his record:

I’m interested in the Sig P250, but that’s my next choice. The time it takes to get a permit to buy a handgun approved here has jumped from 3 days to over 30 since the election. Hopefully the messiah won’t get started on the gun bans for at least a month or two after being sworn in and at.

We all know that criminals will always be able to have guns Barry. And because of liberals like you Barry, the criminals can assume that 99% of their victims will be unarmed and unable to defend themselves against your welfare system born and breed criminals.
The real Americans out here know they are in charge of their own safety. Dialing 911 does not stop you from being harmed by a thug that is already in your house. We know that if we don’t protect ourselves, we may assume room temperature before the police find out anything even happened.
Heck, sometimes dialing 911 won’t even get the cops out to come over to find your dead body. A nice young woman named Brittany Zimmerman found that out last summer in Madison,WI.
She called 911 as she was dying after a brutal mid-day attack in her home, and the idiot 911 operator hung up on her. Her boyfriend found her body later that day. When Brittany called 911 she was already dying and unable to speak clearly so the 911 operator hung up and did not follow up on the call as she should have.
If Brittany had a gun, the perp would be dead instead of a nice young woman who wanted to be a doctor. Oh, the perp is still on the loose too. Madison has hired mostly minorities for a long time, and they pass on more qualified people who might actually know how to get a murderer off the streets. No white males need apply! Affirmative Action at it’s best in The People’s Republic of Madison!
What about Biden’s guns?
You can bet any sum you want that public “servants” will be exempted from any gun ban.
Obama the Deceiver will figure out a way to wangle their guns from their hands. I hope they're smart enough to see through it.

That is very true. The Black folks that hold down a job and are property owners are generally conservative.
It’s just the Dems looking out for their fellow partners in crime. They don’t want the serfs to have the ability to shoot back at the looters.
Black folks in this country have been wangled by better than obama; gun ownership just goes underground, off the books. Now and then in Chicago there's a story in the paper about some old guy who won't be a victim any more. One man, about seventy, Charles Bronsonned a couple of punks who mugged him with a knife. Killed one and messed up the other one bad. Cops took his gun, but after completing the report, gave it back to him. I forgot whether or not they gave him a medal. They knew he was OK, and that's how they treated him.
I tell you. Black folks need to come home to the Republican party. On average, they're actually pretty conservative when it comes to the most basic things in life.
The fact that blacks continue to stand overwhelmingly with the Democrats has less to do with Democrat policy, and more to do with the fact that blacks tend to be a pretty orthodox lot. Most won't push the status quo.
It may come as a surprise to some, but there was a time, when virtually all blacks voted Republican.
Thanks for the facts. Obviously, Obama is an establishment Democrat then. He might probably do pretty much what Hillary and her herd would have done against the Second Amendment. Let’s hope that he’ll be busy enough trying to inflate the dollar with make-work programs.

Big difference between determining how you can use private property and flat out taking property.

What the heck is that?
Let me guess....those two perps had been wrecking havoc on society and getting away with it for years. No wonder the police didn't take it any further.
I remember seeing a story on the local news about one veteran (in his 80's) walking in on a guy, who was robbing his friend's Baltimore store. The old black man crept up from behind and whammed him good with his cane. They didn't show his face on TV due to fear of retaliation, but the young black witness they interviewed said, with intense admiration, that he hoped he'd have the same courage one day.
Don't mess with an old soldier, they don't lose their ways.
Does that apply to abortion too? Obama is talking out of both sides of his mouth, particularly since abortion kills more people daily than guns do.
Hubby is convinced that the blacks that voted for Obama’s “hope” and promises to “fix” their problems will turn on him big time when he miserably fails to live up to their expectations. If that does happen it would sure be ironic if Obama turns out to be the catalyst that leads them back to the GOP.

I am well aware that many of them express very conservative views, especially when talking one on one with a conservative white person. But then they vote for far left liberal nutcases. Kinda makes you wonder if they have any idea what they are really voting for.
The liberals already did this- at our schools with their large GUN FREE ZONES signs, of course we have all seen how well that has worked out. They failed that test and many others with the highest crime being in areas of greatest firearm restrictions. The refuse to believe the truth even when it hits them over the head- repeatedly. Just blind stupidity.
