Eye on the Senate: Chambliss Ahead in Georgia, 52%-46%

First-term Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss holds a 52 percent to 46 percent lead over Democratic challenger James Martin), a former state representative, in their Dec. 2 runoff battle, according to a Research 2000 survey conducted Nov. 23-25. Two percent are undecided and the margin of error is 4 points.

Research 2000 makes the same observation that Public Policy Polling did in its Nov. 22-23 poll: that Chambliss has been able to widen his lead because, this time around, Barack Obama is not on the ballot to lure a larger turnout. PPP had Chambliss leading Martin 53 percent to 41 percent.

An InsiderAdvantage/Politico poll conducted Nov. 23 had Chambliss ahead 50 percent to 47 percent with 3 percent undecided.

"This thing's going to be a nail-biter. We don't know who's going to turn out and we don't know how it's going to turn out, but it's going to be a close race," said InsiderAdvantage CEO Matt Towery.

Chambliss has been able to widen his lead because this time around McCain is not on the ticket either.

Which is a good thing when redistricting comes; the Republicans should be able to gerrymander the liberals down to three house seats with the remainder going to the republicans.

My husband was so mad at how Chambliss has been voting in the Senate that he voted for the Libertarian candidate, to give Chambliss a warning. Now he all ready to vote for Chambliss.

BTW Chambliss’ vote was 49.8%. He needed 50% plus 1 vote.

I agree that Chambliss too moderate for Georgia, however we just cannot send a Democrat to rubber stamp Obama’s agenda.

I was in the Emory area, which is a nicer section of town, and I never saw a Chambliss sign.

I was a Republican poll watcher in the Emory area back in the 64 election. I was the first of my kind that they had ever seen, I think.

The Democrat in charge of the poll was a nice guy. He was a prof from Emory as I remember. The other Democrat poll workers watched me with suspicion. Of course, the fact that I had a "Johnson phooey" bumper sticker on my car (made from two "Johnson Humphrey" stickers) didn't help.

Here are my thoughts on the Georgia Senate Race.

As someone from Oklahoma who usually stays focused on things which affect my state, I've been watching this race with some interest.

Here is what is at stake. We've already lost one Senate seat in Alaska. In Minnesota, even though Norm Coleman appears to have a hand on his Senate seat, I'm still not very cofident in the process up there. There seems to be way too many shenanagans going on and I'm afraid ol' what's his face may be on his way to stealing the election up there.

So it all comes down to this race and what kind a of a future the people of Georgia want for themseleves and their families. I will point out that our side needs at least 41 seats to have any chance of undermining Hussien and his new world order political agenda.

You've heard me talk about his proposals for a civilian police force and the possibility of more Waco-style attacks. And before any goofball out there starts browbeating me to tone down my message, let me tell you something. Obama and his cabal have shown themselves to be very poor sports when it comes to people questioning his actions and his past associations.

And I will tell you something else. If the Dems get their filibuster proof majority, all of us in the christian and conservatives are going to end up in a very precarious position.

We simply can't afford to lose this Senate seat in Georgia. It's my hope and prayer that the good folks in the Peach State wil do the right thing and return Saxby Chambliss back to Washington.

Barck Hussien Obama and his new world order cabal need to be undermined. We as conservatives need to make it as difficult as possible for the Obama and the Dems to govern and set public policy if America is to have any kind of future.

I know our friends in Georgia will do the right thing.

Since Obama became President, Saxby has been leading all in all the polls since. Martin is stuck in the 46-47 percent range. This seat should stay in GOP hands. Lets hope Coleman could hang in there.
