President-elect Barack Obama and his former general election rival, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz), have come to an agreement on immigration, Senate Majority leader Harry Reid told the Detroit Free Press in a recent interview. Reid said the two standard-bearers have agreed to move forward on immigration legislation during Obama's White House tenure. "On immigration, there's been an agreement between Obama and McCain to move forward on that," Reidsaid when how Congress would handle immigration and healthcare with expanded Democratic majorities and Obama in the White House. Early on in their general election campaign, both McCain and Obama pledged to enact sweeping immigration reforms. McCain attempted to pass a massive immigration bill during the last Congress, forging alliances with such heavyweights as Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) and President Bush. McCain proposed granting a pathway to citizenship for illegal resident aliens and ramping up security efforts along the U.S./Mexico border. The effort failed. When asked if immigration reform would cause "as much of a fight" in Congress the next time it comes up, Reid cited McCain as a key GOP ally who could enable Democrats to enact reforms. "We've got McCain and we've got a few others. I don't expect much of a fight at all," Reid said. The Detroit Free Press posted Reid's interview to its website Sunday.
For what? Treason?
They stand for permanently ending the conservative movement.
Ya all should be happy McCain and smooching Huckabee got Romney knocked out of the race...
why?
I think hes being darkly sarcastic.
Who the crap cares what these 2 idiots think????
Who the crap cares what these 2 idiots think????
McCain and Hussein are united in their hatred of Americans.
I don’t care what they think. I care about what they’re about to legislate!
Sort of why I was dreading a McCain presidency (even though I voted for him and hoped he’d be better than a Dem in the WH.) I knew the frustration he would cause would drive my BP way up.
.....”I don’t expect much of a fight at all,”....
Is that so? Think again....
McCain lost his Senate Bill 2611 and, in case you hadn’t noticed Reid....he was NOT supported in his bid for POTUS either. American’s will continue to fight the CFR/OBL for the sovereignty and security of our country. With the exception of open borders/pro-slave labor RHINO’s, we will unite to defeat any attempts at any kind of amnesty, by any ‘name’, for any illegal aliens.
From what I am understanding, nothing, for a while anyway. Which follows Bambi’s present vote in the Senate. I think that he will make no decisions. And his campaign promises are history. (Could be wrong)
With a Dem-controlled Congress, Romney would have done what he did in Mass.....pass gay marriage and gov't healthcare.
Stop the nonsense that Romney is any more conservative than McCain.
It’s time we had another Sensenbrenner/Hunter type legislator step up to the plate and introduce the EXACT OPPOSITE of what these two traitors will try to enact.
I’m all for it being a FELONY to be in my country illegally. And there should be no excuses for Hunter’s double fence to be completed as written and passed into law.
It’s time our CURRENT immigration laws were enforced.
Nothing new. Move on. These two pathetic figures agree on:
1. Amnesty;
2. Global warming;
3. Taxes;
4. Health care and
5. Hatred of Bush.
Hairy Reed is delusional.
A Democrat Congress that passed the $700 billion bail-out that was just as unpopular as Amnesty, will pass Amnesty
