State Recount: Franken Loses in Bid to Add Ballots

The state Canvassing Board's rejection of Al Franken's bid to count ballots stirred new rancor.

Democrat Al Franken suffered a setback Wednesday when the state Canvassing Board unanimously turned down his campaign's request to include rejected absentee ballots in the U. S. Senate recount, prompting a Franken attorney to threaten to go all the way to Washington if necessary to get them considered.

"Whether it is at the county level, before the Canvassing Board, before the courts, or before the United States Senate, we don't know yet. But these votes will be counted," said Marc Elias, the campaign's lead recount attorney, who added that he won't appeal the board's decision.

Senate Majority leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., termed the Canvassing Board's decision "cause for great concern" and called on Minnesota officials to "ensure that no voter is disenfranchised."

Seems as if Franken's camp is about to concede that Coleman will win the recount and is hinting about the strategy to follow.

It's deja vu for the 'Rats to claim that someone is "disenfranchised" whenever illegal or fraudulent votes are discovered. It's nice to know that the Canvassing Board apparently didn't fall for that BS.

"But these votes will be counted"

They have been. They are 6500 invalid votes.

called on Minnesota officials to "ensure that no voter is disenfranchised."

Unless he's a Republican.

Dirty Harry has suggested that the Senate may not seat Coleman. I don’t think they have the stones to just give it to Franklin.

Disgusting.

Coleman must have originally won overwhelmingly—not even the thousands of manufactured Franken votes can overcome his lead. This is very good news.

It is enough that the people know there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing.
The people who count the votes decide everything.

They are going to take this to the US Senate, which will count the invalid/fraudulent votes, and Franken will be seated.

The Republicans will protest, but there is nothing they will be able to do about it.

ensure that no voter is disenfranchised

Did it ever occur to these people that when you allow fraudulent ballots to be counted, you are disenfranchising the legitimate voters? Once fraudulent vote = one legitimate vote disenfranchised.

The irony...is yummy yummy...so the same Party that disenfranchised Florida and Michigan voters...now bleats about “no voter disenfranchised...”

I think the level they are willing to sink to in a quest for power is quite clear.

If they do just give it to the clown, there isn't the slightest reason I should regard any verbal flatulence issuing from the senate chamber as anything but pollution. They are not lawmakers if they ignore the law, they are buffoons.

Yes, I've heard that quot from Stalin before. But I see some hope here for Coleman, as it seems like he got a fair ruling from the Canvassing Board.
