Palin to Attend Governors Meeting with Obama
Sara Murray reports on politics.
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will attend the governors meeting next week with President-elect Barack Obama, her spokesman said this afternoon.
While Bill McAllister, Palins spokesman, said he hadnt spoken to the governor at length about the meeting, he said he expects her to bring up energy issues.
Obviously she wants to communicate Alaskas goals in assisting America with energy independence, McAllister said. That includes drilling for oil as well as expediting a natural gas pipeline.
While Republican Sen. John McCain met with Mr. Obama following McCains presidential defeat, this will be the first time Palin, who was the Republican vice-presidential nominee, has reconnected with her former opponent.
For more details on the governors meeting, read the full story.

Those were the Republican governors. This will be a special meeting of governors from both political parties.

In Sarah's "Turkey Shoot" interview, she made it clear that she warned about the price going down and said that Alaska has prepared for that. She socked away $5 billion surplus from the high prices last year. She's baselining the price at $35/barrel for the new budget cycle, down from $83. She's very grounded in reality for this budget cycle and the surplus fund will be there to help, although her spokesman said in another article that they're going to take a meataxe to the budget.
I suspect Sarah wants to tell Obama that now is the time (even in bad times with low oil prices) to invest in developing untapped oil sources for the future.
Investing government money in productive ventures may be a foreign concept for Zero, however. He'd rather just bail out his cronies in Detroit and elsewhere.

I agree. We need to become energy independent regardless of price per barrel and the sooner the better.

President Eject Obama is playing King of The World and thinks he is President of The United States.
So he's calling meetings and taking names.

McCain conceded back in early October, proclaiming his soulmate Obama nothing to fear and ever so fantastic.
It was horrible.
He never deserved to be on the same ticket as someone the caliber of Sarah Palin.
To: Albion Wilde
The only real difference between McCain and Obama was on foreign policy.
That underlines the peril of Republican politics being defined more by what happens in the Middle East than by what happens here in the USA: it paves the way for someone like Giuliani to get close to the nomination, and for someone like McCain to wind up with it.
And thus the disaster of the election that just happened.
