McCain Plans to Run Again (for the Senate)

In his first real news conference since the week following his defeat for the presidency, Senator John McCain emerged today in Phoenix to talk about his own future.
He said he plans to run again in 2010 it may seem a long time from now for you but so many are already gearing up for the midterm elections that maybe its no surprise. The longtime Arizona senator at age 72 had already returned to the Senate earlier this month and tried to deflect media inquiries every time he ventured into one of its public hallways.
At his news conference today, he continued to defend his selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate, a choice that many top Republicans and their pundits ultimately came to blame for his decline in the polls. While the conservative newcomer was enormously popular at rallies during the fall election season, her lack of foreign policy experience and her inconsistent performances in interviews undercut the Republican presidential ticket for many leading Republican thinkers.

Did he even deliver his home state? I always find it amusing that one could be elected Senator in their home state but lose the state as president.

Sarah, stay as far away from McLame as you can this time.
He might just lose, and his staff would blame you.

I find it rather amusing that much of his presser contained questions about Sarah and even this NY Times piece that was supposedly about him, had 2/3 of the story about her...
I still can’t get over the media’s fascination w/ her. Why do they keep talking about her, it’s only fanning the flames...

AZ will be happy and proud to re-elect him! He’s not perfect; but he’s damn good and we’re glad to have him.

While the conservative newcomer was enormously popular at rallies during the fall election season, her lack of foreign policy experience and her inconsistent performances in interviews undercut the Republican presidential ticket for many leading Republican thinkers. Do crowds go miles out of their way to see someone who has already convinced them not to vote for them?
What foreign policy credentials do state governors usually bring, anyway? What did Carter and Clinton proffer for foreign policy experience? At least Sarah Palin has dealings with two foreign powers on Alaska's borders--one to send a pipeline through, and the other overflying MIGs for sabre-rattling.
And who are these "leading Republican thinkers?" Few of her GOP attackers will speak their names--while those with valid criticism put their names to it.

Why do they keep talking about her, its only fanning the flames...They're trying to make her toxic and render her unable to run for national office. One of my favorite things about her is her lack of interest in the MSM.

AZ will be happy and proud to re-elect him! Hes not perfect; but hes damn good and were glad to have him. Since y'all are so happy with him, why don't you recruit him as your governor?
That way we can be rid of his "reaching across the aisle" to aid the Rats (amnesty, global warming regulation, CFR, etc) and you can enjoy him all to yourselves.
