While the conservative newcomer was enormously popular at rallies during the fall election season, her lack of foreign policy experience and her inconsistent performances in interviews undercut the Republican presidential ticket for many leading Republican thinkers.

Do crowds go miles out of their way to see someone who has already convinced them not to vote for them?

What foreign policy credentials do state governors usually bring, anyway? What did Carter and Clinton proffer for foreign policy experience? At least Sarah Palin has dealings with two foreign powers on Alaska's borders--one to send a pipeline through, and the other overflying MIGs for sabre-rattling.

And who are these "leading Republican thinkers?" Few of her GOP attackers will speak their names--while those with valid criticism put their names to it.
