The US has requested that Israel refrain from embarking on any large-scale operations during the last weeks of the George W. Bush administration, Time magazine reported Monday evening.
The magazine quotes an unnamed Israeli source at the Defense Ministry as saying, "We have been warned off."
IDF officials hinted in the past that a preemptive attack on Iran's nuclear installations might be timed to take place before the inauguration of US President-elect Barack Obama. Obama is slated to take office on January 20.
The request, reportedly relayed to Israeli officials by senior US counterparts, was likely to be reiterated on Monday during Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's last meeting with Bush with both leaders still serving as of heads of state.

Man, what a disappointment W has turned out to be. When a lliberal friend calls W stupid I can’t bring myself to defend him.
That’s what I have said all along. It’s pretty well documented that Iran now has sufficient nuclear material to construct at least one nuclear device. Israel has stated all along that they will not allow Iran to do so. I figured the Israeli’s would wait to until after the U.S. elections. If it was McCain I thought the Israeli’s would figure they would get more robust support from the U.S. for a military solution to the problem and would wait to see if some other alternative, i.e. economic sanctions, might actually be effective. If it was Obama then I figured the Israeli’s would strike while Bush is still in office. The U.S. would be obliged to assist and the deal would be done before Obama could do anything about it.
In any event Israel will take matters into it’s own hands. Unlike Europe and bed-wetting liberals like Obama the Israelis know damn well that Iran means it when they say that they will eliminate the Jewish State. Up til now sanctions have not been effective nor will they be in the future as long as Russia can stick their thumb in everyone’s eye to gain geopolitical and economic advantage. And I don’t think that will change nor do the Israelis. Look for the bullets to fly sometime between now and April, 09.
I went from lukewarm support ( 2000 ) to enthusiasm ( 9-11 ) to "what the Hell happened to him?" ( After the 2004 election, and more so after the 2006 debacle.)
And this? I just can't see the justification or reasoning behind it- two nuclear bombs on Israel's narrowest part, it's all over but the dying.

Did you know Iranian almost started the Battle of Armageddon but on Aug. 21 Somali pirates inadvertently thwarted exploding dirty bomb Iran ship in the Israeli shore? Oh well the worse or worst is yet to come. Be prepared.
If Bush will not assist the Israelis now, then all his statements about not permitting a nuclear Iran were lies.
Because if Israel does not act now, Iran will be a nuclear power in under six months.
And no one thinks that Obama will do anything about it.
