MORTON KONDRACKE: GOP's first step is to ignore Rush

How can the Republican Party rebound? The first step would be to quit letting Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham set its agenda.

A second step would be for Congressional Republicans to actually try to help President-elect Barack Obama succeed in addressing the country’s dire problems — offering better ideas where appropriate and opposing just when necessary, not reflexively.

And the third — maybe the biggest one — would be for GOP governors to use their posts to show the country how conservatives can solve problems, especially the dismal state of American education and its menacing cousin, lagging American competitiveness.

If one governor would fully implement a widely circulated proposal to transform U.S. education — based on having most children graduate after 10th grade and using the savings to pay teachers like professionals — it could serve as a model for the nation and bring the United States back to world standards.

The Mortman is getting a bit miffed that El Rushbo and the rest have much, much more influence than he has.

Properly so.

The problem is that Republicans listened to people like Kondracke and not enough to Limbaugh, Hannity and Ingraham. Incidentally, these are my favorite talk show hosts too. I think many here at FR will agree.

The first step for the GOP is to ignore Kondracke and the rest of the Democrat RINO media.

As Rush himself has said: “Mort, we’ve already tried it your way with McCain-RINO..It didn’t work!”

If one governor would fully implement a widely circulated proposal to transform U.S. education — based on having most children graduate after 10th grade and using the savings to pay teachers like professionals .

I could agree to that if teacher were to be treated like professionals.

Most professionals are not members of labor unions.

Most professionals are held accountable for their mistakes.

Most professionals do not get their contracts renewed after a dismal showing during the current contract period.

If teachers want to be paid like professionals let them be treated like professionals not like laborers.

Mort’s solution for Republicans apparently involves them becoming Democrats...

Kondrake’s dream is to make the GOP the moderate wing of the Democrat party. Conservatism didn't fail in the last election, it didn't show up.

“Mort is not a RINO, he is a Democrat! “

All the more reason to ignore him.

Mort WHO?

I honestly haven’t heard of him before so he is easy to ignore and consider irrelevant.

This IDIOT apparently doesn’t know that the NEA and so-called federal Education Department — BOTH DIMOCRAT CREATURES — have a HAMMERLOCK on cirricula and textbooks and their “change agents” have moved government schools AWAY from the Three Rs and science to VALUES CLARIFICATION, POLITICAL CORRECTNESS AND SELF-AWARENESS.

Hey, Mort, tell your buds over at DIMOCRAT HQ and the NEA to put the word out that we want — NEED — kids educated more in really important stuff and way less the feel-good insanity they’ve been getting for 30+ years.

the last person anyone in the GOP needs to listen to is Mort Kondrake

Fred Barnes is no better than Kondrake.

Mort and Fred were hugh McCain supporters and ripped conservatives like Fred Thompson.

McCain was the problem and THEY were a big part of the problem.
