Obama economic plan aims for 2.5M new jobs by 2011

WASHINGTON – President-elect Barack Obama promoted an economic plan Saturday he said would create 2.5 million jobs by rebuilding roads and bridges and modernizing schools while developing alternative energy sources and more efficient cars.

"These aren't just steps to pull ourselves out of this immediate crisis. These are the long-term investments in our economic future that have been ignored for far too long," Obama said in the weekly Democratic radio address.

The goal is to it quickly through Congress, with help from both parties, after Obama takes office Jan. 20. The plan, which envisions those new jobs by January 2011, is "big enough to meet the challenges we face," he said.

Obama noted the growing evidence the country is "facing an economic crisis of historic proportions" and said he was pleased Congress passed an extension of unemployment benefits this past week. But, he added, `We must do more to put people back to work and get our economy moving again."

His jobs will all be government jobs akin to the depression era work programs.

No thanks...we can do A LOT better than that, and starting in 2010, we will turn things around so we can turn the economy, the energy sector, manufacturing, agriculture, etc., etc. loose again in a free market.

Don’t forget, those “millions” of jobs building “energy efficient” cars, will more than likely be robots that the industry has been forced to develop because of the extremely high cost of labor, thanks to the Unions.

Japan solved it’s labor shortage this way, and American industry will do the same to remain competitive. As far as the pipe dream of solving the economic crisis by rebuilding schools, bridges roads, etc, those jobs now require years of professional trade experience. General laborers (Pick & shovel gangs) have been replaced by heavy equipment.

Add the incredible cost of his environmental overkill, “Crap & Trade” scam and the building materials industry will have to charge the tax payers double for the same materials & services.

BUT, it all sounds so GOOD! Just like his pie-in-the-sky speeches that his Cult following chanted repeatedly. WE WANT PIE....WE WANT PIE!....... They are going to get just that!

Marxists do not want to create jobs, they want to move ciphers around the board. They want to arrange the board. It did not matter to Stalin how many kulaks he killed in order to achieve collectivization of agriculture, it did not matter how many peasants Mao Zedong had to starve to death in order to divert money for the production of atomic bombs and missiles. The left does not want any jobs for Cowboys it wants spots for drones.

In their insatiable quest to play God, leftists are drawn to governing because it is the arena which permits them to do just that, to play God. Turning loose the entrepreneurial spirit of the citizenry is anathema to them because it takes them out of the game, in fact, it takes away the game entirely. That will never do.

Ultimately, Obama is driven in this direction by the demons which control him.

Jeff, I admire your positive outlook. However, I see it as not possible in 2010, because they plan on flooding the electorate with newly ordained Democrats from Mexico.

They plan on granting amnesty to all those Illegals already here, (30 million) just by requiring them to register, pay a few hundred dollar fine, learn a few words in English and throw the doors wide open at the border. All they need do in the future is, register, pay a fee, have family already here or have a medical or economic crisis to get citizenship.

Of course, they will get Universal National Health Care immediately. And they will come in a wave like the Indonesian Disaster.
