2008-11-21

Local officials and residents say a curfew has been imposed on Longnan city following two days of violence between police and protesters.

HONG KONG—Authorities in the northwestern Chinese province of Gansu have imposed a curfew on some districts of Longnan city following two days of violence between security forces and local residents resisting eviction.

"The whole area is under curfew," a local official who declined to be identified said. "Any groups of more than three people will be beaten without mercy."

He said government propaganda cars were moving through the city following rioting Tuesday, warning local residents not to leave their homes, to be careful what they say, and not to gather in groups of more than three, on pain of strict enforcement.

"They were beating everyone they saw out on the streets [Tuesday]," he said. "They were saying in my department today that the police are attacking people. It's horrible. Things have got really serious."

The current economic climate - which is only beginning - could change the world in ways we never imagined.

While Obama and the Dims worry about man made global warming and other mythical creations the real problems accelerate with their "solutions".

The economic collapse is going to reduce carbon emissions by more than anything their retarded cap-and-trade nonsense will.

...the plight of an unarmed population living under socialistic tyranny.

The Polosi/Waxman/Reid/Schumer crowd would unleash the same upon us if they could.

After over 60 years off communism the people are starting to stand up for freedom and are willing to die in the process.

Meanwhile in America, the people have just elected a communist to run our country.

Of course there in no words of protest from the RNC concerning ACORN or violations of fund raising laws.

We’re doomed! The whole government is corrupt.

“but could we work out some sort of exchange deal and get a few of their cops over here”

Better yet, could we get some of these FREEDOM FIGHTERS over here who, unlike most here in the US, are willing to die to be free.

Instead we have a large group of sheep willing to be lead to the slaughter.

At least code pink is willing to do more for what they believe then blog on some website.

Oh, the DNC party 's "drive-by media"

...warning local residents not to leave their homes, to be careful what they say, and not to gather in groups of more than three, on pain of strict enforcement...

Political correctness, it's a wonderful thing.

...Police beat an unarmed civilian with truncheons during protests ...

What, do they have a strong ban on the citizen ownership of sticks? And are these actually police, or the Chinese equivalent of the Obomunist Civilian Security Forces?

That's paramilitary police.

Obomunist Civilian Security Forces would be more like Nazi's Sturmabteilung or Baby Doc Duvalier's Tonton Macoute, a ragtag bunch of pro-regime thugs, doing the reigme's dirty work.

The best infantry weapon ever made, according to General Patton.

Forget the 5.56 or 7.62 MM,the semi-auto 30.06 in the hands of an expert will be our salvation when Obama’s gun-grabbers come for our freedom.

And the M1 Garand, like the AK47,can take a lickin’ and keep on tickin’.

Just watch those thumbs on the reload.

I believe that the M-14, had it been around in Patton's day, would have recieved that acclaim. It is the logical evolution to the Garand, and I'd prefer it if for no other reason than it had a bottom feeding magazine with a larger capacity.

But yes, at the time, the Garand was indeed the best battle rifle around. They were (and still are) accurate, and operated in adverse conditions. And you didn't need to rack the bolt!

Unfortunately for our troops in Vietnam, early renditions of the M-16 were prone to jamming and just weren't reliable. I'm sure that more than a handful would have preferred an M-14. Or a Garand. Or a Remington 700 BDL instead. I believe that later revisions were improved to the point that they are reliable. My AR works fine, though I admittedly clean it after each outing. Same with my Garand.

“I believe that the M-14, had it been around in Patton’s day, would have recieved that acclaim.”

Interesting that the Germans took captured Garands and used them as the design basis for their G41/G43/K43 series rifles...bottom mag feed and with stripper-clip guide on top, easily adaptable for scopes, full-power 7.92mm (.30 cal) round.

They caught on to the whole “Hey!!!! Mein Gott!!! We can put a larger capacity magazine on this thing, on the Bottom Yet!!!!!” concept - similar to the Russians and their Tokarev SVT40 which is a long, heavy SOB, but still a decent shooter.

But I agree that the Garand was (and is) an excellent rifle, though. I love them - a Garand was actually the very first rifle I ever fired...my Uncle (WII Pacific vet, one of three who’d been in the Pacific) had one, and we were drilling holes in milk cans with it many, many years ago.

And one irony that occurred to me here, seeing these commie thugs beating up on unarmed people, and the M14 being mentioned....NORINCO (North China Industries) makes (or made) a COPY of the M14 rifle, as well as another Chinese company, Polytech, and sells them HERE...

Shame those folks can’t get their hands on them; they’d certainly have the will power to use them...

When I was in the Navy during the early 70s,the Marines on our Aircraft Carrier prefered the M-14 to the 16.They used to target practice from the fantail at the garbage bags we tossed off Sponson 8.
Sometimes,Soviet “Fishing Boats” would follow us to pick up the bags in case secrets were inside them. The Jarheads would see how close they could place their rounds to the poor Russkie swab on the ladder picking up our trash. If there was an ultimate Russian decoration for bravery, those Russian sailors bobbing for our garbage under Marine fire certainly deserved it.
But still,in a domestic firefight with unskilled patriot soldiers, which is better and more effective,a semi-auto chambered for the 30.06 or the 308?
