The former business consultant and founder of Bain Capital handled economic issues during his campaign with an ease and confidence that seemed to elude Sen. John McCain. As the stock market tanked throughout the fall, a growing chorus of conservative pundits speculated Romney would have boosted the GOP ticket considerably more than Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin did.

There are a few different versions of that story.
I like the one where John Wayne was traveling with Reagan to a dinner event. They saw some protestors and Wayne had the car stopped. He got out went over and pulled one of the anti-USA signs from one of the protesters hands and gave them a few choice words to boot.
And, here are a few more questions:
Who builds the aircraft carriers, Humvees, tanks, fighter planes, rifles, ammunition, food, uniforms, etc. used by the military?
Who pays for those things?
I don't know if ansel12 will answer you but I will. The people who built tanks, planes etc. in WWII were mostly women, and men who couldn't enter the service, commonly known as 4F, men who couldn't pass the physical for various reasons, and people who were held to jobs because of necessity. I doubt if all Romneys down through the years have been 4F or held jobs deemed necessary to the war effort.
Romney may or may not be a coward(one of the main reasons for not joining the military), but he is definitely a RINO, therefore unqualified as a Presidential candidate for the Republican party, regardless of what the RNC and the MSM thinks.
We need to hold our primaries in most states at the same time. I voted in Ohio after McCain was chosen but I still voted for Thompson, it was a waste of time. This needs to be fixed before we have the media again choose our candidate.
Ahh, yes, the old ‘anti-Mormon bigot’ canard. I’m surprised it took this long for someone to dust that one off.
Suuuuure. Opposition to Romney is anti-Liberal bigotry and nothing more.
Yep, I’m a proud anti-Liberal bigot. And because of that, I oppose Mitt Romney for President.
You need to mention that Jimmy Stewart was a bomber pilot on B17s. He flew, I think, 27 missions. That took guts back then. Henry Fonda served and his daughter turned out to be a communist, just can tell what your kids will do, can you?
BTW, my father and his brothers, total of 3, all served in WWII as mechanics on P47s and P51s. (father was somewhat of an a**hat and got thrown in the Stockade), Uncles served with distinction and kept them flying. An Uncle on my mothers side of the family was a Marine and rose to the rank of Captain before being discharged, medically, with acute Malaria and some kind of lung disease, having served in the Philippines, he was always proud of his service and added Captain to his name throughout his life whenever he wrote a letter or signed a paper. God bless those men and women(don't forget the women, they were magnificent)of that era. Hope the he** we see their like again and very soon!
The do love their liberals don’t they.
No thanks.
I’m not making it up. Romney’s dad must have been registered for the draft. But he was older and had a houseful of kids, so he didn’t get called up. He was also in an important industry. From Wikipedia: “During World War II, Romney headed the Automotive Council for War Production, which worked to optimize automotive companies’ war production.”
There are other ways to “serve,” other than in uniform, although I admire all who did serve in uniform.
My dad, BTW, won the Distinguished Flying Cross in WWII, but he went back to civilian life and never put down any man who hadn’t served in the military.
It wasn't just movie stars, either. Big leaguers Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio, Bob Feller, Stan Musial, just to name a few, paused in their brilliant baseball careers in order to serve their nation, they didn't get a dispensation just because they were big-time sports stars.
I seriously doubt that should 0bama do as he says, "If we go to war, we ALL go to war" will show the current Hollywood crowd lining up at the induction centers, few if any major league all-stars will drop the million-dollar career to do the same as their predecessors. Shame on them, considering how many vocally endorsed and probably voted for him.
Many sports figures fought in WWII and earned battlefield decorations.
What’s interesting is to think about two of the most decorated Americans from WWII, who later went on to become Hollywood actors. Fairly successful actors. Audie Murphy and Neville Brand.
I disagree, since you said, “We need to hold our primaries, in most states, at the same time.” I think that the primaries and caucuses should be evenly spread throughout Feb., Mar., Apr., & May, with 12 or 13 states voting, each month. If that happens, the nomination process will be more suspenseful and exciting, with several candidates winning states and receiving publicity.
Stop making excuses for the Romney’s TOTAL lack of military service to America. NO Romney EVER served in the military and NO Romney EVER fought for America. Period! Btw, this was a personal choice made by every member of the Romney clan. You don’t find that strange? Maybe even unpatriotic?
For what its worth, at least Obama’s Grandfather served in WWII. That is more than Willard can claim.
Sarah Palin did more in nine weeks of campaigning for the Republican party than Romney, et al, could do in nine years. She IS the future of the party (if we are lucky...and if we—conservatives—learn from the Dems and ‘circle our wagons’ and protect her from this crap they throw at her).
rather than vote for a (gasp) CULTIST!
a cultist? George Romney was the one who said he was brainwashed.
I don't know how Madonna feels about her taxes supporting the military, but the money has to come from somewhere.
I dont know why the Romney men have a perfect historical record of never serving our nation, but they do, you would think that one of those boys would want to rebel against the family tradition.
See, that's where we disagree. The Romney's have served our nation, but in a different way.
As I explained in my previous post, it takes more than a great military to make a great nation. In fact, it takes great businesses and great businessmen to make a great military!
I'm sorry that you can't see the value of people like Mitt Romney and his family. It's really sad that someone like you who obviously has given much to your country can't seem to appreciate the many different ways others have given too.
I recall the A&E biography story on how he got to Hollywood, James Cagney reads in a magazine (was it Life?) that this war hero, most-decorated soldier ever, is living on hard times, invites him to come to Hollywood, stay in his little guest house for a rest, visit to the local gym for some exercise, someone there wonders who the guy with no bu** is who's boxing. Then Cagney offers him the bit part in his movie about West Point, Murphy had three small lines and couldn't commit them to memory!! LOL!!
My late hero-uncle lies in Arlington very near to Audie's grave, double-honor in my book.

Romney can take the same long walk off a short pier that Huckabee needs to take.
Romney is a ruthless backstabbing big-government socialist, a faux-conservative, and a lying flip-flopper wholl say anything for a vote.
The Kool-Aid drinking Romneyboys here can have at me for dissing your worthless Planet Kolob and cork submarine-believing charlatan.

OK, it's time someone defend this name calling.
Define just what makes a candidate a RINO. I want specifics.
