No seems to have noticed what she actually said in that interview. She said that she had anticipated that oil prices would eventually plummet, and so she had prepared her state for this potential catastrophe. Because of her foresight the state will be able to weather what would have been economically crippling. I think that kind of knowledge and judgement is a lot more important in a leader than her inability to know what's happening the background of her interview.

It may not be this one particular incident, but the media will have years to build up a case against her to feed to a voting public that just elected someone who’s entire platform and campaign strategy consisted of a single word. This is just another weapon in their arsenal now, and it was totally avoidable

Backbone and conviction have nothing to do with it. The problem is Palin opened herself up to be lampooned. It doesn’t appear that she has a strong ability to identify that she’s being setup. This is a humorous situation IMO, however, the next one might be more damage.

MSNBC/DNC didn’t shoot the footage, but they have full time people living in Alaska to monitor Palin and look for opportunities such as this.

That is my statement. When he quoted me he should have italicized it but his statement at the bottom should have made it clear to all but the dullards that he was responding to it.

I have known McCain since '82 when I fought to keep the nomination for John Rhodes' seat from him. I have fought him ever since. I opposed him in 2000. Is he conservative? Very. On the three shibboliths of the conservative movement, abortion, spending and defense, he is rock solid. He is honest to a fault. One amazing thing about Palin is her ability to brush off adversities and come out even stronger. If any of the other “leaders” like Jindal, Huckabee, Pawlenty or Barbour were picked by McCain to be his running mate, their political career will be over by now. They will be called “damaged goods”. But, Palin is going stronger after each misstep or debacle. Mark of a true charismatic leader. She is baptized under fire. The more people slander her, the more popular she becomes.
