Electronic devices dislike me. There is never a day when something isnt ailing. Three out of these five implements answering machine, fax machine, printer, phone and electric can-opener all dropped dead on me in the past few days.
Now something has gone wrong with all three television sets. They will get only Sarah Palin.

Dick Cavitt??? You don't mean Dick Cavett the guy who did late night interviews back in the 60s do you?
Can't be. That Dick Cavett must be dead by now.

needs more electro-therapy
Cavett has openly discussed his bouts with clinical depression in recent years, an illness which first occurred during his freshman year at Yale. He was the subject of a 1993 video produced by the Depression and Related Affective Disorders Association called A Patient's Perspective. He was sued in 1997 by a producer for breach of contract when failing to show up for a nationally syndicated radio program (also called The Dick Cavett Show); Cavett's lawyer confirmed to the Associated Press at the time that Cavett left due to a manic-depressive episode.[citation needed]
Cavett underwent electroconvulsive therapy to treat his depression. In 1992, he was quoted in People: "In my case, ECT was miraculous. My wife was dubious, but when she came into my room afterward, I sat up and said, 'Look who's back among the living.' It was like a magic wand."

Just my luck, too late.
Maybe we can narrow it to the hour and day of demise. Make it sporting.

Cavett is one of the most insignificant Dicks around.
BTW,nearly all of these types of articles have comment sections and I suggest that any Freepers who go to the site to read the whole article, also Freep the comment section. We need to be on the offensive, especially against offensive articles like this one.

Dick Cavitt??? You don't mean Dick Cavett the guy who did late night interviews back in the 60s do you? In the day, I had the (dis)pleasure of working with Cavett on an advertising campaign.
On the tube, he came across as a serious and sensitive interviewer. In person, he was a superficial....well...ah...little prick.
He had no problem nonchalanting his way thru a live commercial. Or breaking the terms of the contract he'd signed.
I'd far rather live next door to Sarah Palin and her family than this superficial little man. I could trust her. I'd never trust him.

Palin is being “Quayle-ized”.
Before next summer, she will be so marginalized (eg. media raped), that she won’t be able to run for mayor of her old town.
It’s amazing the hatred these people have for her.
I really hope that there is a very nasty and bloody civil war just around the corner in this country so as to purge it of such evil anti-American hatred.

It’s not the word that matter but the whether the person saying them is right or wrong. People who make their living being agile with words don’t get that because they think the skillful use of words is a virtue, itself.

Sorry for my spelling. Indeed I meant Dick Cavett. Per the NTY his late night talk show ran from 68-75 though I can't much remember much of him past 72 or 73. His PBS show was downright unwatchable. Not surprisingly, this pious little gasbag never took on Kennedy or Gore or even Biden for their fractured syntax. Then again he is a good liberal so don't expect logic or consistency from him.

"I can play a kind of Alaskan roulette. Any random channel clicked on by the remote brings up that eager face, with its continuing assaults on the English Lang."Yep. The elitists are trying mightily to marginalize Sarah Palin, the way they did George W. Bush. Ain't gonna happen. Sarah Palin is extremely well spoken, and with more exposure, without the hype of the campaign, the voters will see that, and see the attacks from the MSM for exactly what they are. Those who aren't already inclined to believe everything the MSM says, already, anyway.
