I’m definitely in that 59% group. What I want to know is this: who are the knuckleheads that are in the other 41%??

59% of Republicans want GOP to become more conservative.

B.S.

Unless Gallop is including RINO's too.

That number is WAY low for a true and traditional Republican poll.

So, like what are the principles of conservatism? What are the black areas. the white areas, and the gray areas???

“Conservatism” as a word, sounds good just like “education” sounds good, but what exactly are we talking about???

parsy, who is real liberal about economics and judges, but real conservative about gun rights, strong defense, etc.

How would people define ‘more conservative’?

Who in the heck make up the other 41%? If republicans fail to become more conservative they will die out.

Sounds good on the surface until you stop to actually think that even if 5% of Republicans were to jump ship, the party would be effectively neutered. What the “we need purge” crowd doesn’t seem to comprehend is that margins are narrow. We can’t afford to lose any votes.

So only 59% of Republicans are conservatives.

I thought it would be a lot fewer when you see how lousy the GOP has been doing.

I remember waaaay back when. The ‘Pubs in the ‘94 election talked about eliminating the Dept of Education. IOW, cutting spending and devolving government. Some good things happened-that made Clinton look good-but it stopped there. Cut the fed government by 2/3. If you can’t, then let us go for incrementalism - like the Dems.

If conservatism means actually abolishing federal agencies and protecting my right to bear arms, then I’m all for it. If it means crusading for “democracy” and for embracing “populism” then I will stay home.

When that number gets to 90% give me a call and I might call myself a Republican again.

It will not make any difference which way the GOP swings. Until you have to pass a small test to become a voter, the Rats have it until the welfare is cut off.

Sorry to be pessimistic, but when lowlifes learned they could vote for Robin Hood to rob the rich (producers) and pay the poor(Lazy),its over with until their right to vote is removed.
