San Franciscans famously fought back against Bill O'Reilly - the conservative Fox news anchor who really, really hates our city - when he said back in 2005 that the U.S. military shouldn't defend San Francisco in case of a terrorist attack. "You want to blow up the Coit Tower? Go ahead," he said.
Everybody from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Supervisor Chris Daly railed at O'Reilly, calling his comments outrageous.
Not content to leave well enough alone, O'Reilly has now sent an underling to the city to make a documentary to show where, supposedly, the politics of President-elect Barack Obama will take the country.
"The far left is emboldened now that Barack Obama has been elected president, and nowhere is the radical left government more on display than in the city of San Francisco," O'Reilly said in introducing the segment.
The minutes-long documentary goes on to show homeless people lounging in the parks, pot smokers, a transgendered prostitute, strippers -- and, well, that's about it. Jesse Watters, the producer, told O'Reilly he felt like he was in one big Grateful Dead concert filled with "vagabonds, street kids, runaways, your sixties hippie retreads."

“the conservative Fox news anchor ...”
I quit reading right there.
That’s okay.
I don’t exactly like him, myself.
Pass me the bong before I comment on this.
In case of a terrorist attack SF should be delcared a sanctuary city for the perps.
Anybody got a link to the video?
WTF! You have got to be kidding. O'Reilly a conservative? LOL!!!
It’s awful when people mention the facts of life in San Francesspool. There’s no need to make up stuff about that bunch of freaks when the truth is so often unbelieveable on its own.
Five PM real time, 8 Eastern
Just a logic extension of their position.
Well, San Fransisco — for once we can dislike the same thing — Billy O.
What a blowhard.
Hillary’s a conservative in San Fran...
Heather Knight can only speak for the hate she harbors, not O’Reilly’s.
Wouldn’t have been able to get it in film if it wasn’t true.
There are two San Fran’s one is extremely liberal, gay loving, pot smoking, prostituting side, and the quieter family oriented side, it’s just that the liberal freal show side is much more flambouyant and make the city seem like everyone there is like that, of course not true. Bill says that teh politics of the city will be Obama’s sanctuary city and all.
Right off the bat, does this article anywhere acknowledge that O’Reilly referred to San Fran needing the military to protect against terror attacks BECAUSE San Fran was hostile to military recruitment centers?
Further, I have been hearing for many years that San Fran is largely homeless streetperson USA because they have created that atmosphere for themselves.

San Francisco to Boot JROTC Programs
SAN FRANCISCO High schools across the city soon will no longer have Junior Reserve Officers'Training Corps programs after officials decided to eliminate them because of the Pentagon's"don't ask, don't tell"policy regarding gay service members.
The Board of Education voted 4-2 late Tuesday to phase out the JROTC from schools over the next two years, despite protest from hundreds of students who rallied outside the meeting.
The resolution passed says the military's ban on openly gay soldiers violates the school district's equal rights policy for gays.
The school district and the military currently share the $1.6 million annual cost of the program. About 1,600 San Francisco students participate in JROTC at seven high schools across the district.
Cadets and instructors who spoke at the meeting and rallied outside argued that the program teaches leadership, organizational skills, personal responsibility and other important values.
"This is where the kids feel safe, the one place they feel safe,"said Robert Powell, a JROTC instructor."You're going to take that away from them?"
Mayor Gavin Newsom called severing ties with the JROTC"a bad idea"that penalized students without having any practical effect on the Pentagon's policy on gays in the military.
"If people want to participate in it and their families want them to participate, I think they have a right to participate without putting them in the political peril of being in this ideological debate,"he said.
Lt. Cmdr. Joe Carpenter, a Pentagon spokesman, has said he didn't know of any other school district having barred JROTC from its campuses.
I believe SF should be removed from the Union before this becomes an issue.
