Yes, it is today, but don’t let your inability to get to your friendly neighborhood ammo dealer today discourage you from participating. All the ammo you buy this week “counts.”
We’re not compiling a tally this year, nor will we in future years.
You know what to do: Buy 100 rounds (or equivalent for hand-loaders).
If you cannot purchase ammo:
- Write a letter to your Representatives to let them know you support the Second Amendment, and would not support taxation schemes and gimmicks that limit or restrict a person’s ability buy ammo.
- Join or contribute to a gun rights organization.
- Number of firearms in America: 228,000,000
- Number of firearm owning households: At least 50,600,000
- Projected firearm owning households in America: 60-85 million
- Number of guns used in crimes: 450,000
- Percentage of guns used in crimes: 0.09%
Over 50 million law-abiding, gun owning households committed NO crime today… but collectively, we stop 2.5 million crimes per year… 6,849 a day!
Fact: Every day, 550 rapes, 1,100 murders, and 5,200 other violent crimes are prevented just by showing a gun. In less than 0.9% of the time is the gun ever actually fired.
Keep up the good work and keep your ammo supply stocked!

National Ammo day should be moved to the day before Inauguration just to send a strong message that Americans are not goign to allow a Democratic controlled congress and presidency to take away our guns
oh, and one more hting- under your ‘facts’- a great many of those crimes ARE committed by illegal aliens- the stats on violent crimes by illegal aliens is staggering- I have the stats on my website somewhere- but not goign to rummage through old posts- but suffice it to say- the stats are quite alarming and infuriating concidering congress is doing absolutely NOTHING to stop these violent scum from crossing hte border and murdering our citizens- and the maddenign hting about it is that htese violent scum are getting social security and other benifits in htis coutnry to boot!

The purpose of the Second Amendment is not to provide protection against petty crime - the purpose of the Second Amendment is to preserve the capacity to refresh the Tree of Liberty.

Excellent idea! Whether the new President is Republican or Dem. (Alternative date: January 3d, the date new Senators and Reps are sworn in.)

Stand up America, the presidential election is not over!
We voted for electors not the individual candidates. The electors do not vote until on or after December 15, 2009. The results are then presented to a Joint Congress and objections may be heard on January 6, 2009. See the letter on my About page hand-delivered to the local offices of my Republican Senators and Representatives. I urge you to take similar action, even if it is simply mailing a one page letter to Washington, D.C.

Actually, its for both, and for hunting too. The militia that is necessary to a free state, is both an army and in smaller increments, the posse. According to the Constitution it is to: "execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions; "
Well, an invasion doesn't seem too likely at the momemt, at least one by a foreign *government*, so that leaves criminals and insurrections.

I searched around but could not find the significance of this date or why
November 19th was chosen ... unless it is to celebrate the day that
Lincoln delivered the Gettysburg address.
Or perhaps it was that fateful dayback in 1959
when Ford announced the discontinuation of the Edsel.
