You must have gone to the casino near Shelton ... I was there Saturday just when they opened. Dad and I regularly attend shows... also go to the one in Chehalis .....
There were several tables with AR rifles ... I’m not familiar with any, they all looked the same to me.
We only bought some M1 carbine magazines ... 15rds. type. All the ammo we saw were junk (old boxes ready to fall apart)....
Good heavens!
They’re going to disarm the poor!
I thought the Leftist bastards loved the poor.
I am so happy we took steps years ago to avoid this mess..
We probably have everything we’ll need for the rest of MY life — but I’m concerned about the kids and grandkids so I trying to replace what we use and build up a buffer - and with the grandkids back in the state, I’m using a lot.
I forgot to comment...
Isn’t Varget a wonderful powder is so many applications?
I’m using it in three calibers and it does a fine job...
Sure helps keep logistics simple..
I’ve used it for years in 22/250, 25/06, 30/06 - in multiple rifles in each cali ber whose barrels are of different lenghts and weights.
All powders have produced benchrest groups within 1MOA - and since I’m only punching paper and busting oranges - that’s all I’m interested in: CONSISTENCY.
If you can't find it at the gun shows, try Cabela's, they are getting shipments in daily, and struggling to keep up, but keep up they do! Wherever you live, it's worth the trip. Or they have an online shopping and shipping, if you live in a state they can ship to. We don't.
I heard a report today one customer called Cabela’s and ordered $30,000 worth of ammunition.
As an example: My target rifle is a Remington 700 VLS chambered for the Winchester .308 Cartridge. I usually put 41.6 Gr behind the sierra Matchking 168 Gr HPBT bullets and can consistently put them all through the X ring at 200 300 and 600 yards.
I can also load the same combination with 43 Gr and get the same results with but two exceptions. The lower powder load is easier on my shoulder. That's a good thing. The larger powder loads change the velocity just enough to make the bullets strike almost exactly 1' higher than the light loads.
Whenever I go down to the public 100 yard range for fun, I sometimes take the target sights off the rifle and mount a 10 power scope. The results there are on the scary side. Usually I can send three rounds downrange that make holes that touch each other.
Why can’t reporters get it right? Assault weapons are legal, but very highly regulated.
The M4 is not available for purchase for only $1000. The AR-15, its semi-automatic ONLY cousin is, though.
Rifles like the Mosin-Nagant, Garand and Lee-Enfield use clips (somebody correct me if I’m wrong here).
The last time I fired .30cal/7.62mm for “target” shooting was 50 years ago on Parris Island!
For half day visits to the range - I prefer something lighter.
My large caliber pieces are shot only frequently enough to verify function, scope zero and to justify ownership! Then put aside for when the SHTF... I don’t hunt.
My most accurate piece is the cheapest with the cheapest scope I owned.
If that isn’t enough to break your heart and give you buyer’s remorse over the price of rifles today - nothing will.
My undeserving tack driver is a Remington 788 in 22/250. It is at least 40 years old and cost around $100 new.
My scope - bought some years ago to train my then 9 year old grandson the science of shooting and scope management was a cheap about $100, Tasco 10-24 x 42mm with AO and large 1/8 MOA adjustment knobs.
I really didn’t expect the scope to hold up for long - but wanted one with high enough magnification he could actually see the .22 dia holes at 100 yards without coming out of his sling locked shooting position..... Well, that cheap damned scope STILL holds zero!
Sadly - I’ve got several Leupolds that don’t perform as well..
Granted they’re brighter, clearer and prettier and 6x the cost - but they don’t help punch groups 6x smaller!
