Military removed officers' guns last week
REYNOSA, Mexico - City officials in Reynosa say their police officers need their guns back. The Mexican military took the officers' guns away last week.
Mexican officials say one of their own was shot when he was trying to stop an armed robber. The officer pulled out a toy gun, since he did not have a real one. The suspect did not give in, and instead he allegedly shot the officer several times.
Reynosa officials say this proves unarmed police are in danger.

Hed been better of he remembered the old joke about a Mexican bring a knife to a gun fight.
He'd have had a better chance of surviving if he had a knife.

Laugh if you want to, but this guy was still trying to do his job and stop a robbery even without a gun, because he believed in what he was doing.
I wish all Mexican police officers had his desire to do their job with or without the support of their peers like this guy did.

This particular officer was proably a brave and honorable man.
However, the army took the cops’ guns away because most of the cops were working quite openly for the drug gangs.

I agree, they are infested with corruption throughout the police force there. I just feel sorry that the one in a dozen who actually believes enough in his job to actually DO it gets killed.

In the cops’ defense, it’s hard to resist when the alternatives are “gold or lead.”
Take the bribe, or be killed with your family.
