The Alynsky thing works because of a sleeping silent majority. When the thugs come in the door and bother the politician and no one else stops by like the church ladies.. they think.. its ok to give in to the loud ones. But if the loud ones are those church ladies.. they know they are the very same people that make 90% of all of the elections work.. and then.. real fear sets in.
Church ladies.. unite and save our country!
One section discussed the Chicago gang the "Vice Lords" later known as the "Conservative Vice Lords". It was quite interesting how The "Vice Lords" transformed into the "Conservative Vice Lords." A White Socialist> angry minorities> Community organizing > short time of "successes"> etc. The final result was a "social failure".
I kept thinking, "where have I seen this philosophy recently"?
Not gonna happen....
here in Miami, we have 610 WIOD...they have in this order: Jimmy Cefalo (conservative), Glenn Beck, Rush, Schnitt (conservative) Hannity, Mark Levin.
BUT they do an update every hour on the hour for local news, weather, sports, etc...
I think that would comply..and thus force Obama to not pull a “present vote” style of move.
he would actually have to propose to limit the 1st amendment. So he will have to announce himself as a stalinist.
ping:
talk radio is in serious trouble
“Obama needs only three votes from the five-member FCC to define localism in such a way that no radio station would dare air any syndicated conservative programming.
Localism is one of the rare issues on which Obama himself has been outspoken.
On September 20, 2007, Obama submitted a pro-localism written statement to an FCC hearing held at the Chicago headquarters of Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr.’s Operation Push.
Furthermore, the Obama transition team knows all about the potential of localism as a means of silencing conservative dissent. The head of the Obama transition team is John Podesta, President and CEO of the Center for American Progress.
In 2007, the Center for American Progress issued a report, The Structural Imbalance of Political Talk Radio. This report complained that there was too much conservative talk on the radio because of “the absence of localism in American radio markets” and urged the FCC to “[e]nsure greater local accountability over radio licensing”
Now there’s a “coincidence” worth noting :)
It was creepy! ;-)
“liberals” doing what they know best: silencing normal people who are right, but disagree with liberal madness.
If they pursue this for partisan purposes, they are going to regret it.
The syndicated talk radio hosts are far more entertainers than they are organizers. Local talk radio hosts can be far more effective at spurring people to action.
The Obama juggernaut isn’t so much about him as it about the “swing” Democratic Senators and Congressmen — recently elected from conservative-leaning jurisdictions. Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin simply aren’t going to be any good at keeping those Members from backing the most extreme proposals. Strong local conservative voices, by contrast, will be able to keep their feet to the fire. It will be dissent from “moderate” Democrats that will stop the Obama momentum far sooner than it will be people voting Republican again.
I think it was Savage who said three of the big wig talk show host already have a law suit against any silencing action.

Obama Bill Would Make Voter Intimidation, Election Fraud Illegal

Common occurrence throughout history (Road to Serfdom) - people will put collectivists into power because of their promises to make everything fair and just. They will accept the first evidences of oppression as “necessary to achieve the goals”, and by the time they figure out that they will also be subject to a degraded lifestyle and authoritarian control, it’s too late to do anything about it.
The common expression is “This isn’t what we meant!”.
However, knowing the left as I do, they will acknowledge NO responsibility for the consequences of their choices. This is a primary facet of “liberalism”.
Well, then -
can we mount a counter offensive and declare that the crap broadcast on local TV and NPR is against our local values?
I thought not...
Exactly!
There could be a huge silver lining to this cloud. Rather than focusing our views in a few national figures, we can have hundreds, maybe thousands, of local talkers spread across the country.
Talk about grassroots! Forcing conservative talk radio to go local could be the best thing that ever happened to conservatives!
And just as the Community Reinvestment act forced banks to subsidize ACORN, this stuff will force radio stations to subsidize “community groups” with free airtime and “local businesses” with reduced ad rates, to the benefit of the Dems.
If they move forward with this, we need to beat them at their own game. (They have been masters of this tactic; it’s time they take some of their own medicine.)
We need to flood the courts with lawsuits complaining about the unfairness and “non-localness” of every one of the MSM. Use this law to take them all down.
Do the lefties think conservative talk radio is too popular now? Just wait until it goes local!
I like my local talkers way better than the syndicated ones anyway. The local talkers connect far more directly to the local population. If local talkers call for action, it’s going to be much more likely to happen. Local talkers can show up for local events and energize their listeners in a way that the national talkers cannot.
In Mexico, money talks, bullsh!t walks. An appropriate mordida will fire XERB and its cohorts right back up.
He's wonderful.
