Exactly. It’s like I always say though, “it’s all fun and games until people lose their 401Ks”. As if President Hussein is going to undo a 5,000+ point drop in the DOW though.

Their greed and corruption led directly to this.

This has got to end on a National basis, it runs rampant.

I know people that consider themselves Republicans who voted Obama soley b/c of the fact that their mutual funds and 401k’s were decimated in Sept/Oct.

This describes my neighbor. Unbelievable.

"Sell your sanctimonious BS on Hannity's show, FRino."

I don't like Hannity and don't watch/listen, so I don't know what the hell you are talking about.

"I am a conservative REPUBLICAN, not a conservative DUmocrat."

Good for you.

"The GOP is not the party of Goober Grahamnesty and Juan McLame even if they have the nomination."

I still don't know what the hell you're talking about because I never said it was.

"That said, I don't take my ball and go vote DUmocrat when the chips are down and things don't go my way."

I didn't have a ball, and I also did not vote democrat, thank you.

"Sometimes you put country first and accept the nominee and hope they will see the error of their ways."

I did put my country first by voting for the man that I believed would be good for my country. I don't see how voting for someone that was not good for my country would have been wise. You advocate voting for someone and hoping (gee, where have we heard that?) that they will change their positions and if you believe that it best I won't fault you for it. The same consideration would be appreciated.

Voting FOR the most conservative in the primary is putting the CONSERVATIVE FIRST. Sitting it out to "teach the GOP a lesson" or voting 3rd party is the gameplan of the DNC (Divide N' Conquer) and strategy for surrender."

You know, I just quit reading your little tirade at this point. That 'agree with me or you must be a liberal' viewpoint is so old and tired. Your republican candidate DID lose the election, but he surrendered to his friends across the aisle early and often. This is the man to whom you gave your one precious vote. A bailout liberal republican.

How many folks do you think you are bringing to your side of an argument with all of the name-calling and venom? Wipe the foam from your mouth, grow up and learn to have a civil discussion.

I can readily believe the Illinois GOP is corrupt, but to clarify, are you actually saying they work hand-in-glove with the Mafia?

Ah, no, sorry for the confusion. The term "Combine" does not refer to the Mafia. It refers to the interconnected group of politicians, lobbyists, influence peddlers, financial contributors, high-level appointees and contractors that together run the State of Illinois. It was popularized by John Kass of the Chicago Tribune.

Understand that in Illinois party affiliations are often more a device of convenience than a declaration of principles or philosophy. If you're running in the City of Chicago or Cook County you had better be a Democrat. If you're running downstate (that part of the state exclusive of Cook County or the counties contiguous to it, a.k.a the collar counties) you had better be a Republican. If you are running in the collar counties you're sometimes Democratic and sometimes Republican depending on local conditions. But the idea is to get elected or have something to say about who does. Then you're part of the Combine and life is good, living off the taxpayers and usually much better than the taxpayers themselves do. Their overarching principle is to get re-elected or get their friends re-elected.

And if you've been elected as a Democrat but your friend in the Combine is a Republican, so what? That won't stop you from supporting them for re-election. Usually this is done more subtly, by ensuring that your party's candidate against your friend is a stooge who couldn't get elected dog catcher in a rabies epidemic. But out-and-out donations to them and sending workers to help them campaign isn't off the table.

Yes and no.

Most of what you’ve put up there is quite accurate, but you cant blame Jack Ryan or the voters.

I don’t think the Paris incident even happened (something about the way Jeri Ryan reacted to this whole thing tells me that it was just a story) but in any case it was in a document that was supposed to be sealed until at least 2012. Blame the Chicago Trbune and a judge who doesn’t believe it’s the job of a family court to protect kids.

As for the voters, we didn’t know about the sex thing, and Jack Ryan was to all appearances an outstanding candidate. I believe that if the docs had remained sealed he would have beaten Obama handily. Sadly, that would have meant Hillary as POTUS.

True to a point. The Paris thing was an allegation from a party to a divorce proceeding, not a proven fact. The whys and wherefores of whether divorce papers are supposed to be sealed or not I confess I’m not familiar with. But it’s up to the GOP to vet their candidates and consider voters’ perceptions as well as facts. Me, I didn’t care, anymore than I particularly cared if Bill Clinton was getting his knob polished in the Oval Office (like he was the first President to ever have done that ...).

But the general devastation of the GOP at that time and the fact that it was Jack Ryan looking to get elected and not incumbent Sen. Peter Fitzgerald looking to get re-elected was due to the greed and corruption of the Illinois Reflublican party (mispelling intentional). Jack’s personal issues were just kind of icing on the cake. He shouldn’t have been in that election in the first place.

You make good points.

Here’s the thing about the sealed docs: Custody fight docs are supposed to be sealed until the kids are adults so that the children won’t be in the situation I’m sure Jack’s kid found himself in: Hearing about Dad’s visit to the sex clubs from your buddies on the playground.

As for Clinton, he wasn’t the only president to do that, but he was the first one to lie about it under oath. and therein lay the problem...

Why did Bush and McCain have to support the bail out?

Why did the cow jump over the moon? Bush is a closet liberal and has proven it beyond a shadow of a doubt in his lame duck term. McCain is a more liberal "Republican" who leaps across the aisle at the drop of a hat to go with the liberals.

Thanks for explaining. Corruption everywhere, and stupid voters. I feel we rational, traditional conservatives are really becoming powerless.
