Nov 7th the DC Chapter had the honor of meeting two very special people. SSG Pitts and his unit set up a small remote outpost in the northeastern Afghanistan-Pakistan border area. It didn't take long for Taliban forces to plan an attack. SSG Pitts was not only one of the few to survive the Battle of Wanat but played an instrumental part in repelling the attack.
Damion Maynard is in the process of walking a mile for every soldier killed in Iraq. He reached DC and spent the evening with us. As of this writing he's since visited with the troops at Walter Reed, participated in the Veteran's Day ceremonies at Arlington, and begun his trek home to Idaho.
Morale boosting recreational events for our wounded troops at Walter Reed are brought to you by charitable contributions to the Aleethia Foundation. Visit their website for more information and how you can help support their efforts.
