I'm gettng suspicious of these repeated articles. It is like the press is highlighting this issue so the lefty dems can call for more gun control by citing the increased arming by citizens.

You have a very good point. Leftie reporters don't do reporting anymore, they just go out and "report" whatever topic of the day the editor tell them too.

And where did they get the 82% or whatever? Out of thin air is my guess.

According to many here, that is no contradiction.

A guy I work with has a 'I'm the NRA' sticker on one side of his bumper and an 'Obama'08' on the other. Don't ask me.

whatshot...

Where are you in KY? Owensboro doesn’t even have a range. I can’t use the 30 06 and 9mm Glock I bought in “celebration” of Husseins new dictatorship.

One does not have to be paranoid or histrionic to purchase guns and ammo now. Osama will not be able to pass a federal ban, but the Dems will vastly increase taxes on guns and ammo.

One of my weekend errands is to buy up 9mm (for the wife’s Glock), .38 special and .357 ammo (for my .357 magnum). I explained to my wife that we would not have to fight off Obama’s hordes, but we still needed to practice at the gun range. If bullets are going to be taxed at astronomical rates, we will get less practice than we need.

Of course, she was a bit discouraged when I said they would have to take our guns “out of my cold dead hands”.

First hand account by me:

I went to the Washington Arms Collectors gun show in Monroe, Washington state last weekend. UNBELIEVABLE how busy it was. I saw more people buying “assault rifles” and tins (500 to 1000 rounds++) - not boxes - of ammunition than I have ever seen and I’ve been going to these shows since the -80s. One ammo dealer in particular (www.surplusammo.com) was the busiest table in the house. He told me he sold out of many thousands of rounds of 7.62X39 within an hour of opening. When I came by about 2-1/2 hours after opening, he was down to less than 2000 rounds of 9 mm and he expected them to be gone within 30 minutes at the rate they were selling. Similar with the .223 and .45 ammo. Thousands of rounds of 7.62X54 selling too. Two guys working the table and they were RUNNING working to take care of every customer. It was two people deep most of the time.

The line at the counter to join the club was longer than I’ve seen it in a LONG time. I can’t wait to hear if membership is spiking. The NRA table had more people at it too. Probably people joining there, but then I bet most people already belong. If you don’t , join now.

Many people are stocking up in anticipation of mistreatment by blacks. The big EOP has also indicated he wants a private army of some sort. Time will tell.

I like your thinking........

I been thinking about making a purchase, but I am not sure what is most sensible to buy. Money is tighter than I would like right now.

Home defense or revolution against Tyranny and oppression?

I can't put it any blunter than that.

If you are looking for cheap home protection, a simple unadulterated shotgun is all you need., Believe it or not it is what most Marines on guard duty carry while NCO are issued 45's. I recommend progressive loading, deer slug in first to be fired last followed by double aught buckshot and lastly birdshot or rock salt in the chamber, or scare wound, kill.

I know I'll catch flack for that one but if you are talking about home defense, real home defense you don't want a lethal round in the chamber unless you live alone.

A simple pistol can also be a good home defense weapon preferably a revolver since they don't have to be chambered.

Now if you are talking about armed insurrection against the forces of a brutal dictatorship there are other choices to be had besides the basic black rifle and it's Russian variant based upon how well you can shoot. Most people without practice can hit a target inside a 100 yard with a rifle of any sort so buy one of the cheaper ones chambered for a round bigger than a 22 caliber but not an odd size.

So what is an "odd size", that depends on where you live, but let's call it whatever your local Wal Mart, Sporting Goods store and Gun shop doesn't carry regularly and has to special order.

Or in other words that vintage Japanese 7.7MM war trophy heavily modified sniper rifle someone has for under $250 (purposed exaggerated for content) isn't a good buy unless you can buy enough ammo to use it in a time of crisis or rebellion.

Luckily Wal Mart and sporting good stores that sell weapons and ammunition are staffed by people that want to sell you what ever you need and are willing to let you know what they have if you can find that happy salesperson wanting to aid you in a purchase of either a gun, ammunition or both.(BTW for a short period of time I was one of those happy Wal Mart ammunition sales people).

But what are your other options? There is what I like to call the "short rifle" or as it is more commonly called the carbine.

Most carbines are chambered for pistol ammunition and are very effective at ranges under 200 yards ideal for those of us, like myself that have trouble seeing objects past that point.

I'm presently looking into a specific type of carbine that has delivered on great promises of accuracy, economy, and durability, and rather then create a run on this type of gun I'm withholding the info until I actually have one in my possession.

Obviously if I am correct about the viability of this weapon as the new Minuteman's weapon of choice, I fully expect the new administration to clamp down hard on the sales of such weapons. Personally I see it as even a bigger threat than your basic black rifle and for a third of the price.

When it was Bush v Gore, my husband asked what I wanted for Christmas. I told him if Bush won I wanted a ring. If Gore won, I wanted a gun.

Guess I'd better tell hubby what I want for Christmas this year, and it ISN'T another ring!

Like you thinking Unk. Have not seen any obamarama stickers at Chimo’s guns however. Have you priced ammo at Sportsman’s Warehouse vs Wally’s? Bought a brick of .40 at the Warehouse for about $90 bucks the other day. Someone told me it was cheaper at WalMart.

Lexington was my old stomping ground for over 20 years. I’m in NC now, but my friend who has the range is in Louisville. It’d be a long drive for you, but if you’re interested FReepmail me and I’ll get directions for you.

You also have to remember that Wisconsin just was taken totally over by Anti-Gun Democrats. They have the State Assembly, Senate, and Gov. Jim Doyle (Who isn’t a fan of gun owners).

My buddy who owns the range is having major trouble finding guns and ammo for his business. I have him on the lookout for something for me and I can get it for cost. I’ll be going to WM today to see if there’s anything there.

Thanks for the info.

Good deal; if you’re buddy isn’t internet savy check out some of the broker sites and indy distributors for what you want and it may be quicker to order and have it shipped to his FFL. There are a number of ammo-specific websites that still have stock and good prices. You don’t need an FFL for that. You will have to fax or email them a copy of your license.

Happy shopping :-)

I wonder how many gun purchases in a day it would take to crash BATFE’s computers? More than we could actually afford I’m sure. :o)

The old ‘60s radical in me thinks that with Mosin Nagants going for less than $100 and SKSs for less than $200 it’s almost worth it for everyone who can afford it to buy one just to freak out the establishment - which in this case includes Bill Ayres and his adoptive son Barak.

The M-N is a legendary sniper rifle (see “Enemy At The Gates”) and the SKS can be thought of as a “gateway assault weapon” by those who like to control things in the sense that marijuana is a “gateway drug”. I can see the ATF and state regulators saying of the SKS “Sure it has a nice brown wood stock and a magazine that only holds five rounds but it IS a semi-auto and it shoots the same ammunition as the EVIL AK-47. How do we know that all of those people buying them don’t have an AK buried in their back yards and are just using the SKS for training and as an excuse to hoard 7.62x39 ammo?”. Of course, we all know nobody would really do that sort of thing.

BLOAT. LTR.
