Fire Forces Evacuations, Burns Homes in Sylmar Area
Sayre Fire is near the 210 Freeway in Northern Los Angeles.
A dangerous, fast-moving brush fire in the Sylmar section of the San Fernando Valley, spread by gusting 50 mph winds has now burned at least five homes and is threatening several more, City Fire Department spokesperson Melissa Kelly said today.
So far there are no reports of injuries to residents or fire personnel, said Kelly.
The blaze ignited about 10:30 p.m. in the dry, brushy hills above 13000 W. Sayre Street near Shablow Ave, and has so far consumed more than 500 acres.

Apparently some Angelinos are trying to read books in the library and the fire fighting helicopters are making too much noise. Welcome to Norte Mexico.
AAAAAAAAhhhhhhh.......I see!
sadly it will only get worse now....
that would be in the sleepy hollow area on the way to Chino hills
Based on what I see headed that direction, it’s a good idea, there is only that one road in or out and don’t want to get stuck in there.

Yes it is a good idea..been on that road once..
He is still a kid, right? Must have been a sports team. I don’t know what I was thinking.
I think this is the day with the most freeways shut down in L.A. history.
Shoot them BACK. Holy heck, what kind of idiots are these.
We used to drive it all the time between Brea and Chino Hills until Grand Avenue was extended through into Diamond Bar. A lot of houses in that canyon... a lot of animals, too.
also found this about the Brea evac’s
Dear ones,
I don’t post on here much although I’m an avid freeper fan. In the last few years here in the great state of Oklahoma, we have had our own share of natural disasters and assisted those who have had natural disasters in their own home states. (Katrina) When I was growing up, we had an occasional tornado, occasional flooding which took the lives of people in our neighborhood. It’s a bad thing to see or consider. In the last couple of years here in Northeastern Oklahoma we have had several devastating tornadoes, the Picher mine field just a few months ago, the ice storms that absolutely put Northeastern Oklahoma down, there is a place outside of Colcord Oklahoma that looks like a nuclear bomb hit it, it will take years to clean up. No one is coming to our rescue. But as far as I’m concerned that’s okay. Sure we would like the help here, it would be welcomed, but we know that we take care of our own.
As I was reading this thread, I just wanted to say that we are all Americans, whether it is fire or wind or ice or water, we want to help those in need. I don’t care where anyone is at, or what they have been voting on. We should just care because we are American’s. We have a God given grace and right to take care of those of around us. I am praying this evening for California! I can’t even imagine what they are going through. Please pray for anyone out there undergoing horrible tragedy. It could be you next time!
I took Carbon Canyon road all the way to Chino.. very beautiful drive
The helicopter pilot for the fire (online) indicates the winds have tied down, but he thinks Carbon Canyon is vulnerable when they pick up again in the morning. Said fire is around the 57 and Diamond Bar now, too.
I have family in Santa Clarita..its is close to there yet. have evacuations been mandatory there yet
thanks, guys
KABC: new start, Porter Ranch
Thats north of the 118 on the northern edge of the San Fernando Valley.
KABC then corrected its graphic. The pic was not Porter Ranch, it was Chino Hills. Sorry bout that.
