There simply wasnt the donor base to support it, McCarthy said. And there are some rather interesting reasons why not. One, the federal campaign finance law that John McCain helped write has made it increasingly difficult to fund independent campaigns legally. Thus, McCains own law was used against him.

So in effect John surrender on two fronts of campaign financing! Very interesting!

Baloney. The original swift boaters operated under the same laws.
But its fun noting that McCain’s campaign finance law has made it impossible to know where Obama’s funding came from.

He couldn’t be Swift Boated because he never served. He thought about serving once, as he told Stephanopolus. I guess that means the Republicans just thought about Swift Boating him, too.

In the end it is grimly satisfying to see McCain's antiAmerican contempt for free speech come back and bite him in the ass. Poetic justice you might say.

There simply wasnt the donor base to support it, McCarthy said. Total BS. McCain's candidacy registered above life support only when he attacked Hussein. He simply did not have the will to fight. He lead the charge with a white flag.

Perhaps more interesting, big money people who might have had the stomach for spending big money on such spots simply did not much like McCain. Keep moving to the left Republicans - its such a good strategy.
