From the we-haven't-hit-Palin-enough CNN News Ticker:
Some Republican governors tell CNN they were not particularly happy with the way the Republican Governors Association press conference was executed Thursday, saying that they agreed to go as a show of GOP governors unity but they ended up feeling like silent Palin supporters, since it was clearly a press conference called for her.Let me get this straight...The GOP governors spoke to CNN on condition of anonymity.
One called it awkward: Im sure you could see it on some of our faces.
Another Republican governor eyeing a presidential run in 2012 told CNN the event was odd and weird, and said it unfortunately sent a message that she was the de facto leader of the party."
The press didnt ask questions of any other governor except Palin, yet it's Sarah's fault?
She reiterated that the GOP governors are a team, yet it's Sarah's fault?
She made her opening remarks at the press conference, she stepped back from the microphone, saying they were all open for questions, yet it's Sarah's fault?
Gov. Perry ended the press conference after only four questions (he later explained that was done because of time constraints), yet it's Sarah's fault?
Chalk up another one to the drive-by media, in this case CNN, which could find dissension in a one-man parade if it suits their purposes.
Once again Gov. Palin is being attacked, and again by nameless persons whose brickbats the drive-bys are only too happy to boost into orbit.
The breathless CNN blog entry continues:
There has been palpable tension among some GOP governors gathered in Miami that Palin has been sucking up all the media oxygen.Good for Gov. Barbour, who always keeps his common sense about him, even when others are losing their mud.In an interview with CNN, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour shrugged off that suggestion.
"That's just somebody running down a rabbit trail. There's plenty of oxygen here, he said.
Allah says the Republican governors, just like the McCain campaign, can't even manage to show enough competence to stay on message for a couple of days. He's right.
This GOP rebuild job is going to take more time than we thought...

If you don’t like that, then DO SOMETHING TO SHOW SOME LEADERSHIP - instead of “reaching across the aisle”, and being comfortable as the minority party.
I done threw KP outta da helicopter and I was hoping she didn’t have no parachute.
I think any pub who talks to the drive bys as if they are not the enemy, becomes the enemy.
Pawlenty needs to concentrate on that election mess in his own state and make sure that the results are not tarnished. If that election is taken away and Pawlenty does nothing and the Dems get that 60 member veto proof Congress, then I would believe his chances at President should immediately go to Zero, Zilch, No and Hell No! Until he stands up and fights against this, one cannot expect him to fight FOR any principle of right and justice.
Rick Perry. He rejected the idea of being VP candidate on a losing 08 tickey, figuring being RNC chairman would give him exposure and make him the 600lb Gorilla for 12.
Sarah Palin "when asked, you don't blink." Country First
And she's now the 1200lb Kodiak Bear. Perry is miffed.
Tim Pawlenty to the ‘T’.
This GOP rebuild job is going to take more time than we thought...
Boy, how I love this spunky Lady! She singlehandendly turned the GOP upside down. I love it!
The high rank GOP'ers better stop pissing and moaning and get serious. The Old GOP is dead, we need fresh ideas and idealogy for the future of our Party.
Get rid of the Rino's and develop a credible political platform, that the voters will believe in.
Talk straight from the heart, be sincere, have deep convictions. EXPLAIN issues in real English and do not be afraid to take heat.
Folks like the plain, straight talk! Period!
BTW, I hope Sarah will run for President in 2012.
...oh, did I mentioned to stick with it? (...the political platform that is)
Ronald Reagan, during his 1966 campaign for governor of California, established the so-called Eleventh Commandment: “Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican.”
THis is so sad and pethetic!! If ANY of them actually said these things, they should be ashamed of themselves and so should we. CLEARLY not conservatives. I saw the entire press conference, and she was terrific! She also was only one of the speakers.
She did hit the line fo the day though, and they loved it, as did I!! “We need to get government off their addiction to OPM (pronounced Opium) Other Peoples Money!!? All of them applauded.
It’s becoming pretty clear that the GOP conservative base really may HAVE to sit out an election in order to save the party. For some reason a lot of the GOP leadership has bought into the idea that they need to dump the conservative base and rebuild from the moderate/independent faction. I wonder why they are that stupid.
I'm so sick of this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EXACTly and unfortunately many here are proving them right.
Wow, can’t believe how jealous these governors are of Sarah. They just can’t take a woman being in a real leadership position (except for Haley-—he’s from Mississippi where strong women are in abundance).
Instead, he says we have to adjust OUR message to meet their expectations ~ whatever they might be.
Sorry, Pawlenty is both a racist and a RINO. The Republican party cannot tolerate either.
Time to purge Pawlenty!
Bump for Fri. reading
