Many stores are seeing sluggish sales and now TV shopping seems to be taking a hit, too. QVC is cutting its workforce in a big way.
The television shopping company, based in West Chester, PA says it will have to eliminate 900 jobs over the next 14 months.
The company also says it's adding 200 new jobs, so there's a net loss of about 700 positions. QVC says the cuts will save the company nearly 40 million dollars in 2009.
At least there’s some good economic news. Too bad they couldn’t eliminate all of the jobs at QVC.
Life as we know it is no longer. /s

BTW, a friend of mine runs a factory in IL and made some type of finger nail polish with glitter in it that was sold on QVC and Home Shopping. So not all of it is cheap Chinese stuff.
Ruh-roh. I actually like the Q. Some of their stuff is crappy, but I’ve gotten some really good stuff there too.
LOL, Dr. Scarpetta, have you ever browsed their “Viewpoints” community forum boards? It’s a gathering place of unhappy liberal women.
If you made this same post over there, I guarantee you’d instantly get two dozen posts accusing you of being racist, hateful, homophobic, etc.
I lurk/post there because it’s a fascinating albeit nauseating glimpse into the typical liberal female mind.

Oh, no, please don't tell me the Kansas City Steak brand meat I buy from QVC is from China. Actually, I just got a bunch of it today..I love the prime rib, steaks, beef wellington, and steak burgers.
Oh, I did buy a thing for boiling spaghetti in the microwave from QVC, and it's made in the USA. It's called fasta-pasta, and it's so much easier than boiling it on the stove in a big pot.
I too post (infrequently) at the Q. You are ever so right — far too many hateful libs post on the Viewpoints board. (I could name names as I have been an infrequent lurker/sometimes poster for years - but I won’t.) Their hate and intolerance for the right and conservatives is beyond imagining. If you can distance yourself from it, you could probably have fun stirring the pot - but they make me too angry to do so. Regarding QVC and China, while it’s true some things are from there - by no means is everything - and they do list place of manufacture online in their product descriptions so it’s easy to see where something is made. They have some clothing and jewelry lines which are made anywhere else (including USA) than China.
QVC is unwatchable, but they do have some good deals. I just bought a 6 qt Kitchenaid super-duper mixer for “ six easy payments” of $50.00 on my debit card. :0) The same mixer normally retails for $400.
Their “fashion” is THE WORST, their jewelry (especially “Diamonique” CZ jewelry) is mostly cheap fake-looking stuff from China.
For higher quality, high style items I shop at Shop.nbc, although it pains me to do anything that might subsidize the National Barack Channel.

No matter how one frames an argument contrary to their liberal views, instant group ad hominem attacks begin. Sorting through the liberal hag rants, it’s clear most of them are dumber than a bag of hammers.
What I love about Free Republic is the intelligence and wit of conservative posters. Occasionally we get jerks at FR who post stuff that’s over the line. QVC is a liberal venom-filled hate site compared to free republic. Have a good evening.
I bought a Diamonique ring, and the stone fell out after a while. I never found it.
Much of it is cheap chinese crap, but QVC is also very good to find and promote small business items and they sell a lot of things invented or crafted right here in the USA.
Go to QVC, scroll down to “QVC Community” text 2/3rds the way down the main page. Double click on this text,then look for “Forums” There are several forums, but the “pass the popcorn” one is Viewpoints.
If you go, bring your flame-proof undies and several barf bags. There’s some REALLY nasty liberal women there. :0)
True, true. I actually thought about that after I posted. They have actually been good to my mom as well. They always give her deals for being a loyal customer. I feel bad now for making that comment.
