"While the Democrat Governor of Louisiana was blaming the Bush Administration for Hurricane Katrina shortcomings, Republican Governor Haley Barbour of Mississippi was working to repair his state. Democrat blame-game or Republican Prosperity, the choice is yours. Elect Palin/Barbour 2012.

Yeah, but the CURRENT governor of Louisiana (who was then a Congressman) did better than either. He was the one who told the military chopper pilots to go ahead and go in, while Blanco was still spinning on her thumb.

And his performance during the hurricanes that have come thru while he was governor was outstanding. Sooooo....

Palin-Jindal 2012

Barbour is a good guy----Jindal is better.

If Haley runs, it will be for the top spot. That being said, it maybe more likely he is thinking RNC chair or the like again as well, guiding the younger Reagan Generation politicians.

Watching Sarah speak again and she’s doing GREAT. I think all the national attention on her through the next couple of years will serve to make the doubters more accepting of her without any more questioning of her intelligence.

She is talking about US produced energy and now universal health care. Says the states can get it done and show the federal government the way. She also says we’re the minority party but don’t have to be the negative party.

The thing about her is she has intelligence, spirit, and VALUES I agree with. The first two without the 3rd don’t work for me.

Heck, a lot of Latinos don't want amnesty!

Amnesty is really more pandering to public employee unions and the chamber of commerce, actually.

Many of us have been very vocal for years about the drain on our financial system by illegal immigrants. No one listened.

The only problem is that you will never get a substantial percentage of either party to stand up and say "Deport them all now!" It just will never happen. So, other solutions must be devised.

Newfreep's steps are good, but along with steps 1 and 2, we have got to close down the flow first. The problem with Reagan's amnesty is that the flow was not controlled like Congress said it would be. This is why many are not for another amnestly now. Honestly, if it can be demonstrated that the flow is controlled, my first step would be to speed up the process for those who are doing the process legally. Then enforce existing laws and punish businesses who hire illegals, but on top of this, give those illegals a chance to make it right. After the line is cleared of those who are doing the process legally, allow those who are here illegally to go through the more efficient process to be legal citizens. Give a deadline for those here illegally to start the process and those caught after the deadline are immediately sent back.

Sarah has a bit more severity in her tone much like the way she normally is up here in Alaska, McCain had her too hobbled, perhaps now she can run like a snagged King Salmon.

I would argue the current economic situation is helping with the immigration issue as well. I have read numerous stories of the undocumented worker chasing the american dream working in construction or landscaping, but now it has all fallen apart along with the housing market.

I just read one the other day about a family here for 11 years packing their crap and heading back to Guatemala.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Barbour ease back into the RNC chair at all—as long as he’s not simultaneously positioning for a run himself.

I know this won't make people here happy.

I just don't think Palin has what it takes to top a national ticket. Call it depth, call it timber.

I just keep hearing the same phases from her that were fine at first, but show a lack of depth at this point.

I really thought her interview with Greta while cooking was disconcerting. She seemed to be trying very hard to project an appealing image of nonchalant dual competence, but I got the impression of someone who was struggling at both tasks.

Sorry, I call it the way I see it.

Oklahoma has the best law and now the demoncrats are saying it’s not working because not many illegals have been arrested and deported.

I guess it doesn’t dawn on them that the illegals LEFT the state so they wouldn’t get arrested and deported.

Yep...she is going to be a rising STAR..no doubt about it! Now that she doesn’t have McCain strapped around her neck...the sky is the limit. I am thinking a Jindal/Palin ticket or Palin/Jindal in 2012.

I am willing to have faith in any person that was willing when called upon to “struggle” with something they are not totally familiar with than putting all my faith in a person that has no background, no history and won’t come forward to prove otherwise.

Nuff said.
