I don’t think the American people will tolerate more partisan witch hunts. If the Dems do this, they will be out in the next elections.

Bush can actually pardon grant amnesty to himself against anything short of impeachment.

Even after that, If the Democrats wanted to burn the political capital to go after him, they could probably extradite him to the ICC @ the Hague. Which would be a far worse precedent than going after him under US law. The thin consolation would be that it would probably sink them in the next major election.

This may very well be the immediate undoing of the Democrat “super majority.” People elected these nuts because of the ECONOMY, and they are going to see this as more wasteful spending, more “politics” and it will not go well. This time around I suspect pardons will be to no avail. They will be declared illegal or Cheney, himself a designated criminal, will be deemed incapable of pardoning anyone. Bush would not do that, anyway. It would be an “admission” that he was a criminal.
