A government master, a Sith Lord no doubt. I expect that he'll have a young apprentice and together they will plot to overthrow the republic.

Whats scary is how many Fortune 500 CEOs are pushing for socialism.

You ain't seen nothing yet. Wait until universal health is on the table and the CEOs figure out that they have the opportunity to dump health care on the government.

"If you like your current plan, you can keep it." Yeah, right. Management at every company is going to stop offering it as a benefit, so EVERYONE will be on the government plan. Except the CEOs. They'll still have full health benefits privately, and they will award themselves massive bonuses out of the money saved by ending the health benefit.

Of course: why not socialize risk when you can privatize profits? Such a deal!

If there ever was a guy who has bought the “smartest guy in the room” fallacy (about himself), it’s Friedman.

"If you like your current plan, you can keep it"

LOL. Yeah, how stooopid does someone have to be (or simply a dishonest liberal pol) to believe that companies would continue offering health care as a benefit if they can dump it off on the govt.

Different case, but we need only look at how fast that Hawaii plan for childrens' health insurance collapsed -- they quickly broke their budget, in less than a year, b/c they assumed that there would be no flood of parents' cancelling other insurance to get on the gubmint plan. The Hawaii plan blew up in less than a year b/c of such stupid assumptions (or more likely the planners knew that would happen but figured they would be able to push for bigger budgets to accommodate everyone - perhaps they only got caught by how quickly the plan's budget collapsed).

Indiana has a need-based plan for children that actually works. Pretty much paid for by smokers. But I don’t see how it could work if everyone were on it.

Freidman must be upset that gas is below two dollars. He advocates government make gas 4.50 to promote green change.

How inconvenient supply and demand is to commies.

I say let the auto companies go bankrupt before making them produce clown cars like yugos.
