Friedman: Put 'Government Master' In Charge of Automakers
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

It's not like Barack Obama is a socialist or anything. It's just that Thomas Friedman wants him to put a "government master" in charge of the country's biggest manufacturing sector. Friedman made his modest proposal in his New York Times column of today, and expanded on it during a Morning Joe appearance. [H/t reader Tom.]

I've got three easy reasons why Friedman's idea won't work.

You expect an NYT writer to be socialist. Whats scary is how many Fortune 500 CEOs are pushing for socialism.

We need Milton Friedman, not Thomas Friedman.

Good Grief!!

Now that Thomass has his Nobel, he actually thinks he is an economist and not a propagandist!

And the worst part, his fellow propagandist believe in him and report his words like Moses from the mountain.

Their philosophical hero:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Kenneth_Galbraith

“During World War II, Galbraith, charged with keeping inflation from crippling the war effort, served as deputy head of the Office of Price Administration. Although little appreciated at the time, the actual power he wielded in this position was so great that he joked later that the rest of his career had been downhill.”

That was Paul Krugman who won the Nobel Prize.

So sick. Detroit was screwed by unions and Dems winning Congress with No Energy Policy. No to everything. We have 4 times the Saudis reserves in the low 48 in shale oil, coal diesel and oil in North Dakota.

Capitalism could fix America including Detroit where costs could be cut and work rules changed. This crap is like 1970s UK with British Leyland. Just a total disaster.

I sure hope Leo’s case at SCOTUS can get this fraud who lied to America ousted. I will even take Biden.

Krugman the consultant to the huge Enron fraud. Still - nothing is worse than Obama’s close advisers who turned Fannie and Freddie into the biggest financial fraud in history plus Granholm who has destroyed Michigan.

Let them die in peace, while the organs are still fit to transplant.

Putting the government in charge is going to end in us having our own version of the Trabant.

Central planning will call for quotas based on lower demand.
Planned availability raises prices because supply is limited. Thus, the socialist plan will work because government knows best and says they know how to fix the problem. But when government is broken, who fixes the fix?

The government makes the rules and gets credit for patting itsself on the back even if their policy is a failure.
Anyone pointing out the continued failures of our government’s economic policy will be purged.

No. We need Alfred Sloan, Henry Ford the first, and Henry Kaiser, et all.

The death of American Capitalism is exemplified by the replacement of these men with Ralph Nader, Nancy Pelosi and Barney Frank,et all.

They are the personification of the Looter as opposed to the Producer.

WHERE IS JOHN GALT ?

Actually, it's not. It's fascism. A close relative to socialism, though.

Amazing the ‘altitude’ they give this guy. Anyone that has fallen for the global warming hoax is a mental midget or has merely adopted ‘green’ to cover their socialist intent or both. Friedman is ‘both’.

Did he really used the term “government master?” Damn, how ironic. Get out of the way, Uncle Sam, Uncle Master’s in town!
